Well , maybe next week.
I got the call from my dealer this morning. My base (no ABS) was shipped on the 15th. He thinks the bike could show up as soon tomorrow.
guy on 1199.com just got the call from his dealer in Dallas that the bike was at their doorstep this morning without even them having notification!!! The bikes have been shipped and may arrive even if you don't have a VIN yet!
^ Any idea when tracking info is provided to the dealer? My dealer received the most recent confirmation for May delivery (last week), however, when I contacted them yesterday, they had no shipping info (?).
That said, I'm not sure how Canadian distrubution is being handled.
That's correct. 1199 base and base ABS Panigales arrived in port in New Jersey on 5/14/12. The bikes ALL arrive via NJ (not Georgia or other locations as was mentioned by someone in the forum). All bikes also arrive via cargo ship (they are not flown in via plane...that was also stated some time ago). The bikes cleared customs without issue and are being/have been shipped to dealers. I didn't check on the number of bikes in the containers, but believe the number is at least as many as S and Tricolores as were delivered at the end of April. Individual dealers may give VIN numbers to customers, but bikes are not allocated to dealers from DNA that way (they are given tracking info. and total number of units). If customers request a VIN number the information is available, although, as I said, DNA does not allocate that way (they don't put your name next to a VIN number and say that's your bike, they send the allocation to the dealer and it is at the dealer's discretion who receives and who does not. The recent confirmation of orders was for purpose of properly allocating units to dealers that have confirmed deliverable sales. Also, FYI DNA makes available to dealers on the 5th of every month a list detailing deliveries to that dealer for the upcoming month. Information is conveyed via the dealers' DNA sales rep contact. As a side note I also found out a friend of mine (previously one the leading dealers in the U.S. and was considered Ducati's best technician is now technical advisor to Ducati).
Hang in there.
What about those of us that ordered an 'S'... wayyyyyyy back in November... ? Getting VERY frustrated at Ducati.... trickle a few bikes out for launch... and now finally some bases...
Yet, those of us who didn't get ours on the initial are still fooookked. As far as I know, no dealers in midwest got any 'S' models with ABS
ugh!
there I feel better now....
My base 1199 arrived at the dealer today. Stopped by to take a look. They had just pulled the bike out of the crate. They will have it ready for me tomorrow.
Time to ride!!!
Trying to give as much info. as I can and will try to answer questions if you have them.
The northeast region of the U.S. received most of the "S" model Panigales and Tricolores that were unveiled at the 4/27 and 4/28 cocktail party receptions and open houses that dealers held. After that inital delivery (approx. 60 bikes), focus at Ducati Italy shifted to manufacture of the base and base ABS models for first shipment/delivery to fill those pre-orders. When orders were initially placed doesn't have as much bearing as some may think. In other words, you could have ordered a base model back in July 2011, but regardless S models were delivered first and someone who ordered on of those even in February would have received theirs first. Also, regardless of date ordered if your dealer is not one that would receive a substantial allocation, you may be #1 in their list, but they may be very low on the allocation/allotment schedule.
I'm not sure of the exact numbers of base, base ABS received on 5/14 or if the shipment contained S or Tri models as well. The S models that were delivered in April were manufactured in February (homologated 3/1). They could have been sent earlier but decision was to stockpile until sufficient numbers had made to ship and fill a substantial number of orders. It was thought to be fair to then fill base and base ABS orders. It's not a perfect science and waiting is very frustrating. While it was thought that orders would be received weekly that hasn't happened because it isn't logistically sensible to ship bikes as they toll off the production line. Containers hold 16 bikes each and a shipment typically will contain a number of full containers. Trying to give as much info. as I can and will try to answer questions if you have them.
