I dunno. Comparing myself to Michael Jordan or Elon Musk is not something I would do. At the end of the day, everyone on this thread is just another dude with varying degrees of slightly above average disposable income. I don't care if you hang out on ducatiforum or rennlist or ferrarichat, you are still just another guy throwing money at off the shelf products to spruce up your toy. Hundreds of millions of us in this world.
What is it that you do Steven that makes you the foremost expert in the world in that field? Would we have read about you perhaps? Biographies written about you? 60 minutes or BBC interviews? Honorary doctorates conferred on you? Invitations to speak at Davos? Not trying to be a sceptic, but when you declared yourself as a top person in the world, it makes this line of questioning fair game. Genuinely interested.
Ever hear of a guy named Tadea Yoshida? Or YKK?
Fascinating story of outstanding success within a niche….but you’ll never hear of him unless pointed him out….notoriety is not an indicator of dominance or success within a given field.
I’m thinking it’s best to not let my ego get in my own way and respond here, in this format, to those questions….but yes, in my field everybody knows me, and while not Davos, policy makers come to us for input (that they rarely use) on policy decisions, and over the years we’ve helped design programs ranging from Disaster relief to tax policy and spoken at Harvard, Wharton, and Stanford MBA programs giving Master Classes, I also changed the business model of an entire industry, and over the course of 20 years have saved about 900,000 jobs in this country, and raised the income of about the same amount.
