Steven, if it helps, I have a Revit undersuit that has been great. Revit have Bautista and other top flight riders. But a lot will depend on how their custom/race shop operates.

I’m not pushing the limit of the motorcycle. Riding at a trackday over 7/10th is not smart. Ride within yourself. Sure there are unforeseen circumstances but that’s life. Also avoid high siding.

Sorry sounds boring. If you don't pavement surf occasionally you never really learn anything. Mock up my bar suggestion by taping something to the top of the bars to check if flattening the droop and widening the bars gets you off the tank. Isn't that fancy six axis stuff for catching highsides.

The good lord knows I don’t mind spending the 7k for anything associated with this bike. But my experience with Dianese is that it’s decent quality but you are paying an extra $4000 in this case for the fashion statement of having a Dianese Logo. It’s like all those street cruiser YouTube guys who have never been to a track in their life wearing AGV track helmets. And my personal experience with Dianese Custom Works (I have two now at a cost of about 9k) has not been premium enough to justify double the cost of othe custom work suits.

On the other end of the spectrum VIRCOS is making stuff that might be worth twice what they charged, but that probably why Dianese is still in business and VIRCOS is not haha.

I've never had Dainese so I didn't know they were so overpriced. Must be someone good and reasonable out there. Too bad Helmut has effectively disappeared my race suit is one sturdy piece.

I don't even bother with the cost of leathers boots or gloves. I ride within myself so I'm never ever going to crash....I don't even bother with insurance because what's the point......being only 5'7" I am nearer the ground and there is less of me to get injured!..

Andy probably tries to fit his fat ass into his Bautista replica suit

I’ve done my fair share of pavement surfing. And I did buy a V4 for the electronics package. High sides are low on my list of concerns out on track

There are sources to purchase these less than retail.

The more compelling issue afaic’d is previous experience and preference for specific airbag technology. If you’re previous experience with Dainese is poor, maybe trying another brand is a good idea. Also, each airbag has pros and cons - you might prefer Astar or another vs Dainese. I think Vircos previously was compatible with Astar, but I don’t know about Rev’It.

I have the high end RS Taichi with the Astar race vest zipped in - it’s a great suit and has protected me well a few times. 😅

I also have a couple Dainese Misanos and like them too, but haven’t crashed tested them. I have a Dainese GP replica on order now because i want to try kangaroo and custom fit, and I like the Misanos and the in-boot interface with the axial D1’s.

I have to say man, I’m not resonating with “it’s stupid to go more than 7/10’s on a track day so safety equipment isn’t needed” paraphrasing there, but there are like MULTIPLE things wrong with that 😂😂😂

That’s the one bit I liked about my Dianese, the outside of boot Velcro setup because I love their Axiel 2 boots.

It’s got to rank amongst the top three stupid things he’s ever said on here!

the boots/gloves/suits are the best. I dont know how a custom suit doesn't fit you... was it cowhide or kangaroo?

Cowhide…I have a weird shaped body, shorter barrel chested torso, long limbs, and I’m 6’2” and was 255-260 pounds when I ordered those two custom fit suits…I’m 210 lbs now. The suites were always too tight and never got much more flexible or ‘broke in’ they are also very heavy and bulky but I think that’s because of the cowhide.

I think the guy measuring me at Dianese wasnt the best at his job either

Love the boots, worth every penny of that $700…the gloves I think are over priced for what you get, there is a local guy in San Diego who make pretty good gloves…I have two pair of Dianese gloves, and that guys gloves, and I reach for that guys gloves every time I head out to track.

These guys have a booth at most of the SoCal track days, their gloves are the best I ever tried.

Probably should give them a shot at making my suit based on the gloves lol

kangaroo is lighter + thinner, stretches more, breathes better

Cow at least for covering your butt. Much better for the occasional 100 mph lowside. Steven if the suits are hard to break in wear them in the rain or get in the shower and then wear it till mostly dry. When your wife asks WTF blame it on me.

I actually did that with one of my Dianese, worked a bit, I think I just just like Cowhide suits

The weird thing is that Andy has read all of them and has a ranking list.

It’s a personal choice to go with back protector vs airbag. I rationalize it that I’m not riding hard enough therefore don’t need the faffery of an airbag. It’s like helmet preference. Or glove preference. Or any preference. It’s why I don’t run slicks or tire warmers.

I gotta disagree with ya on this one man, airbags are a proven technology at this point…in my last five track days alone I saw guys get a brain bleed, another with a fairly serious spinal injury from a low side that ended up tumbling, and broken collar bones and shoulder injuries that can knock guys out for a year or more at our age happen all the time from fairly benign seeming crashes.

You are no spring chicken anymore SD…your bones aren’t as green as they use to be…you also have no control of other riders doing stupid .... like coming out of nowhere with no time to react cutting to an apex and clipping your front wheel causing you to high side.

Even an injury as minor but ...... as a broken collar bone or a back injury that could have been prevented by an airbag would .... up your lifestyle and quality of life for way to long at our age.
