Commuting heat

I know this has been talked about a bit but I was wondering what the current 1199 owners think of the heat since they have owned it for a while.

I'm mainly worried about commuting, where I live it only gets upto about 28c in summer! That's about 84f.

Cheers

Too hot to handle

I'm considering buying the base or the 2012 S1000rr but the heating issue causes concern.

I live in Singapore and daily temp is 34/35c (93f) daily, all year round.

Recently just sold off my 1098 Streetfighter and the heat was bearable.

If you lived here with these daily temps, would you buy the Pani?

I live in wash dc area where it gets up over 100 degrees sometimes during the summer with humidity. So for the OP 84 is perfect man! Plus if your really looking to commute only the Multi Strada or even streetfighter is more suited for that. I did get stuck in brutal traffic in 90 deg heat for 2 hrs last week and I kept thinking one thing. That my 1198 Corse was 50 times worse with heat coming g off it and that at least I didn't have the damn dry clutch to cramp my hand even worse! Nutshell- the exhaust heat is not invisible but not a deal breaker by any means!

With everyone talking about the intense heat from the engine, I am really getting worried. I am still waiting for the delivery of my dream bike (1199 of course!) and the concern of my balls getting cooked is getting stronger with every heating issues I read from you guys. You guys are either in the States or colder countries. I hail from Singapore and average ambient temp is about 30C, and can get as high as 35C.

My current ride is a MV Agusta 1078RR and the heat is really overwhelming. The bike cannot stop. Once stop, heat builds up really quick and I have had my inner thighs scalded red before I had a tank cover on.

Jeezzzz......

You can do it !!!!!!!

Re-read what you posted here. "The bike of your dreams" and the issue of heat should not be your deciding factor my friend. Believe me, coming off the 1198 to the 1199 the heat is NOWHERE as noticable unless stopped dead in traffic for long periods of time. Don't let one issue dictate you fulfilling your dream of owning the hottest (totally no pun intended) looking and performing sportbike on the road. There can't be many of these in Singapore so just think how many heads you will turn and how many thumbs up you will get from people as you pass them on the road! Never ridden the MV so cant compare it to that, but you won't end up being scalded on this "dream bike!"

Thanks for the heads-up dude. From what you said, if I can live with the MV, I guess the 1199 should not be a problem. At the most I guess I just have to put a tank cover on to shield myself from the heat then.

I guess it's because of the Panigale successtory you get a lot of 'new' Ducati-owners who are new to the heat that Ducati motorcycles produce.
When you're used to ride a Ducati, heat on the Panigale should be nothing to worry about.

Here in AZ we're into our triple digit season. My rides home from work are in 104+ degree heat and rising. As long as you're moving its tolerable. If you're at a stand still it's pretty bad but no worse than any other Ducati superbike. However, some feel differently so you'll just have to ride it and see for yourself. After the break in period I plan on Jet hot coating the exhaust and wrapping the rear header and using a bit of heat shielding. I've had good results with Jet Hot in the past.

When I rode mine home from the dealership I got stuck in traffic and the heat was pretty bad. I was second guessing my decision as I didn't want a bike this expensive that gave me a reason not to ride it. Especially since the warm weather lasts here from mid-April through mid-October. I was even more discouraged when I got home and my legs were actually burnt from the heat.

After having ridden now for almost 500 miles, I couldn't be happier with my purchase. This bike has so many other upside to it that the heat is much less of a factor for me. The heat is still there, but I have either gotten use to it or the excitement of the ride just makes me forget about it.

I've had it almost three weeks now and I still can't stop staring at it in my garage.

at first it will almost unbearable for me. after awhile, you get used to it but you won't get over it....always noticeable. have to dress for it, no more jeans.

Took the Tric out tonight for the first dry miles since the first service and the full exhaust was on. Did one hour in varying rush hour traffic in jeans on purpose to see how it felt. Ambient was 17 degrees, not too hot I know but the bike was warm but ok, nowhere near as hot as it was with the original pipe. I think the CF heatshield is much more effective. Most of the heat seemed to be coming from the motor in front.

Other stuff was weird though, it could have just been me but the bike seemed like it didn't really want to rev. I wanted to hit this mythical powerband past 8k admittedly in jeans maybe the wrong idea but it seemed to take a while to get up there that I usually ran out of road or traffic before I saw 9k. Dunno how to describe it, it felt sluggish. I wonder if the up load map wasn't correct. Like I say could have just been me but I know one thing, my 1198s with the full system would have left it for dead, effortless power. And to think I used to hate that power delivery! I didn't wear ear plugs today either for the first time in a while and the noises coming out of that motor, it's all nashing of teeth and metallic sounds, you can't hear the pipes hardly, gone is the loud deep boom of the 72mm equipped 1198. It's very drivable but somehow hard work. I'll put some full leathers on Thursday and ring its neck like I say I just might ave been in the wrong mood for it today.

Loved it at first, beginning to fall out of love...

Dealer lor, placed order at march. =(

Got my heat wrap, heat shield and whatsoever ready. just need the damn bike!

i see. that must be a painful wait. i am also waiting for mine since april. Looi's Motor said that their's will be coming only in July but still speculative.

what kind of heat shield and wrap you got? if it does work in reducing the amount of heat transmitted to the rider, I would like to get some too. dude, do you mind pm me your contact number? will appreciate you help. Thank you so much.

like zvez suggested, i also suspect your engine power setting. what you experienced sounds like a restricted delivery of power which makes me think about your engine setting. probably the mech who installed your full system toggled around with you settings which you did not know?

How much is Looi Motors asking for the base and S model?

It's been awhile since I've ridden one but I remember the heat coming off of my Honda VFR's was much worse then the 1199.
