Ducati announces new 1199

no one knows the final specs right now (probably not even Ducati). Some of it might be wet vs dry and confusions quoting the two.. . But the test bike (if it is the test bike) now is not the final spec that is going to go into production. Everything now is just a conjecture. Until they actually have a production bike- thats when you'll know the final spec. And by that time, all the bikes will have been sold.

As cynical and skeptical as I was about this thread and info I will now admit this rumor has SOME truth to it which I was just informed on in very deep detail. Unfortunately I have been asked NOT to disclose any details of this until they are close to public announcement. Sorry folks, I owe it to this Ducati employee not to disclose this and I don't mean to tease or taunt my fellow members by posting this.

The one comment he said was that it is so damn beautiful he can't take his eyes off it! :)
Now I am even jealous and stoked to see what sort of package they have put together here!

I highly doubt there was any confusion between the reported wet and dry weights considering the leaked wet weight would imply the new bike is heavier than the current R – a detail that doesn’t jive with reports of magnesium and carbon bodywork being heavily implemented throughout the new model.

I didn't believe it neither until my dealer gave me little info and the main one being "can't take my eyes off it"
 
I'm torn. On the one hand I am hoping they got it right and we'll see an I4 with a trellis frame so we can go back to competitive glory in WSBK and MotoGP. On the other hand, that would be admitting the Panigale concept is flawed and our bikes will be worth a few grand on the used market. Hmm.. :)

I thought Gunny Fitz was being a .... by not giving us all the info but just got off the phone with a source that attended the dealer party and I just gained a lot of info and was sworn to secrecy.... Now I know how Gunny feels..... My dealer wants to nominate me as well Lol I told him I will keep dreaming. No gas charged forks guys and something new about the engine. Lighter then motogp bike and faster... Comes with termis and a sick looking stock exhaust 500 made 100 for USA full carbon body! And on other news the 1199's will be matte black...

All Ducatis are from the V-twin womb and changing moms would mean getting screwed in the wrong hole.. :p

Unless you want your Ducati to sound like a mosquito, I would say stick with the V-twin cos that unique sound stands out which is why we love Ducati.

I'm not convinced the Panigale is the end all be all of sportbike technology or necessarily the best approach. It's getting pwned in WSBK and we all know the Desmo has been a steaming pile for years. I was really scratching my head when the Pani appeared to take the ...... up bits from the Desmo and then incorporate them into their "new" design that became the Panigale. WTF was I thinking buying one? :(

Is it a completely new model or an upgraded version of the 1199?

I think it's actually and finally going to consume the bmw whole..... Only setback in the superbike shootout if they even allow it in is that it costs 55 thousand
