$65K?...oooh, I'll take two. I'll also have a bloody Mary, Steak sandwich, and a Bloody Mary. And put it on the Underhill's bill. Oh yeah put down 20% for yourself.

Gotta love Fletch!

By the way, the current MotoGP minimum weight limit is 353 lbs, with most bikes running in the 230-245 HP range. These reports suggest an almost MotoGP power to weight ratio spec bike may soon be available for the street. Pretty incredible if true.

I've heard that Ducati Italy is gathering a list of potential buyers from dealers, and then will mail out a special sales package about the bike to the people on the list. $70,000 CAD, a v-twin, 500 numbered bikes.

New info from a credible source...

This bike is the real deal and will make it's debut at EMCIA...

DUCATI held its first dealers meeting in the US so we will have the most allocation...

The Exotic materials used in the making of this bike will not be replicated...

Price range is between 50-70k...

Will be the fastest production superbike ever produced...

I really wish there was more consistency from the various reports but do appreciate everyone chiming in on what they have heard. At the very least we can feel confident there is actually a bike in the works, but I now wonder how much accurate information has been divulged to dealers.

Assuming the 40 lb reduction is accurate, that would put the bike right around 376 lbs street ready with a 320-325 lb. dry weight. Does anyone know how much the LED headlight unit weighs? It would be pretty neat to get the total dry weight stripped for track at under 300 lbs.

~ 7-8 lbs.

Wow! I couldn't agree more. Do what you want of course, but the idea of borrowing from your 401k for a bike that will lose at least half it's value relatively quickly seems like one of the worst ideas I've heard...maybe ever.

BINGO! Dipping into a 401k for a motorcycle... complete stupidity. If you cannot walk in and drop the cash, then you shouldn't even consider it.

If the dealer can settle the deposit with the trade in of the R then yes I will go for it.. else no

I personally wouldn't go that far to go in my 401k but who are you to judge ones stupidity? There can be a lot of factors involved and honestly if you love something or want it soooooo much sell your kidneys!!! Just don't let anyone call you stupid. It's your choice.... Every Japanese bike owner thinks you're stupid because they may perceive the panigale as garbage and they may think there bike is better... Perception my friend... Keep negative comments to yourself

Until next year when someone else brings something out that beats it. Still wish I had the money.

Yeah worlds fastest production bike....for a couple years until a cheaper better model comes out as bikes evolve. Meanwhile you are still paying that one off.

Now if I had $70K to blow and not care...sure gimme one!

I wouldn't call a bike with a limit of 500 units as a 'production' bike. . .

My guess is this would be the so called last "homologation special" (that's the term used for these specially made ones with racing grade parts) due to the change in WSBK rules for 2014 to only allow production bikes to limit cost and close the loophole which manufacturers have been exploiting all along...

So maybe this Pani would be more special compared to the Desmosedici RR

Well I spoke to the dealer I work with, not so much about details but what my 20% down gets me.

She said basically, that being in New York, they fight with the NYC (aka the Manhattan dealer) to get allotments on that bike. That she may not be able to get the bike even if you float the cash. Now the good news, it's not non-refundable. So if you calculate 1 percent interest earned on $15k sitting in the back for the next 6 months, (about 75 bucks), you could conceivably put the money down and put off the heartache of making the decision till the summer

Keep talking yourself into it....lol.

Still wouldn't touch your retirement account.
