I really wish there was more consistency from the various reports but do appreciate everyone chiming in on what they have heard. At the very least we can feel confident there is actually a bike in the works, but I now wonder how much accurate information has been divulged to dealers.
Assuming the 40 lb reduction is accurate, that would put the bike right around 376 lbs street ready with a 320-325 lb. dry weight. Does anyone know how much the LED headlight unit weighs? It would be pretty neat to get the total dry weight stripped for track at under 300 lbs.
Wow! I couldn't agree more. Do what you want of course, but the idea of borrowing from your 401k for a bike that will lose at least half it's value relatively quickly seems like one of the worst ideas I've heard...maybe ever.
BINGO! Dipping into a 401k for a motorcycle... complete stupidity. If you cannot walk in and drop the cash, then you shouldn't even consider it.

New info from a credible source...
This bike is the real deal and will make it's debut at EMCIA...
DUCATI held its first dealers meeting in the US so we will have the most allocation...
The Exotic materials used in the making of this bike will not be replicated...
Price range is between 50-70k...
Will be the fastest production superbike ever produced...
I wouldn't call a bike with a limit of 500 units as a 'production' bike. . .
My guess is this would be the so called last "homologation special" (that's the term used for these specially made ones with racing grade parts) due to the change in WSBK rules for 2014 to only allow production bikes to limit cost and close the loophole which manufacturers have been exploiting all along...
So maybe this Pani would be more special compared to the Desmosedici RR
AR that would spoil it.
