I think it's actually and finally going to consume the bmw whole..... Only setback in the superbike shootout if they even allow it in is that it costs 55 thousand

LMFAO 55k

ha 55k... ha ....

ha.. er wait...

55k ...

55k no that sounds reasonable.....

hell it's still cheaper than my car...

barely....

forgive me trying to make a bad decision here...

All Ducatis are from the V-twin womb and changing moms would mean getting screwed in the wrong hole.. :p

Unless you want your Ducati to sound like a mosquito, I would say stick with the V-twin cos that unique sound stands out which is why we love Ducati.

IF IT AIN'T BROKE DON'T FIX IT

V4 is greater than v2. Sounds better, performs better etc. Not sure you know but its a common misunderstanding but all those ducati motogp bikes are v4's and not twins.

Do what you are saying isn't true at all. And yes v4 's sound much better than the twins.

That will be a slight setback... "Get this one cool bike" or "Get two of these - one for road and one for track".

Don't think you can compare limited edition with production bikes. Otherwise the 1199rs that is out there now for wsbk could probably beat the BMW already. Or the limited Erik buell as well or the suter moto 2 bike etc etc.

And yeah I think its 65 and not 55

Significant amount of incorrect statements here

Hey this is the info I got from someone attending the dealer meeting and I'm sorry 20% down =13,000 so I guess 65,000 is about right... I heard something about spark degree engine can't exactly recall but this is what it heard none of this may be a fact

Ugh. You guys are killing me. I'm off this thread until the damn bike comes out. Nothing worse than getting all worked up over something at this point and making plans for trades and 401ks and ..... Sheer overeaction here.

And no I'm not being a .... for withholding all of the info and spec sheets on what I was shown and told today. I value that friendship and connection more than I do anyone here. Merely confirming that SOME of you have SOME of the info correct in all these friggin posts. I wouldn't take my word, or anyone else's, strong enough to lose sleep on it at this point. We had a word for this in the intel community - disinformation.
See what it does to the community?

I got wind of this about 7 weeks ago.

My dealer mentioned something about submitting a list of potentially serious buyers/preferred customers to DUCATI for "something special" secret squirrel business coming up.

I didn't think anything more of it until this latest development has come up.

Interesting:cool:

I got the same call about the same time. I was thinking the same about why they called. Now it makes sense.

Now THIS is the correct way to talk about it, for now. Cheers.

And yes, It's like a supermodel that also has some brains.

You should talk, Mr. "I can confirm this". Maybe you and "bolds" should remember what YOU agreed to. Is being the cool guy know-it-all on a forum worth it?

I'm now hearing rumors that even what dealers were recently told and shown in New Orleans is only part of the picture on this bike, meaning that our "inside sources" with connections have about as good of a chance as the random lurker in predicting what the finished model will feature. Interesting; I think everyone is in the same boat here until official specs are released.

It's an R, but with the radiators removed and new heatshields made of forged unobtanium. I hear it makes 250 rwhp on the dyno, but none of the testers can confirm it yet because they were all horribly burned before they could finish the dyno runs.

Lmaooooooooooooooo. And ahhh it featured the batman tumbler motorcycle riding position

Just got back from the dealer, he asked me if i wanted to be on "the list" and drop a deposit of 12k.

i refused.

so the word is, no official numbers on the motor, but it is >200 HP and you get a race camshaft set with the bike.

now hold on tight:

weight reduction: 40 pounds compared to the current model.

i said yeah, um, really? sure not 20? he said, no, 40 is the number.

apparently VW said:
take the platform and make it the baddest badass bike.

well...

we will see!!!

It sounds like this thing is NOT based on the 1199 the more I hear. Isn't Honda supposed to come out with a RCV which is also NOT based on the CBR? These sound like GP replicas to me. Could be wrong though.

nope. panigale, with ABS, TC, lights, mirrors...

I really wish there was more consistency from the various reports but do appreciate everyone chiming in on what they have heard. At the very least we can feel confident there is actually a bike in the works, but I now wonder how much accurate information has been divulged to dealers.

Assuming the 40 lb reduction is accurate, that would put the bike right around 376 lbs street ready with a 320-325 lb. dry weight. Does anyone know how much the LED headlight unit weighs? It would be pretty neat to get the total dry weight stripped for track at under 300 lbs.
