You have made it clear that you're not understanding anyone's point.
You can do us all a favor and take your parts bin low quality bike and drive it off a cliff.

 
I'm not offended by any of the lower quality parts on my 1199 nor am I brand loyal but the facts are facts. I've changed most of the worthy components anyway. I have an MV agusta and had a cbr600 before I decided to sell it. I've had 2 zx6r's and a daytona 675.

Ducati was struggling in sales as a premium brand. The days when an R model would run you $40k msrp before the brand was bought and saved. What did that sale cost Ducati as a brand? Sure, it is still considered by many to be a premium brand but to stay in business in an attempt to be profitable, VW has had no choice but to try and appeal to the masses. The masses clearly weren't too interested in Ducati before so now they're doing what they can to appeal to a larger crowd and increase sales. How many different Ducati bikes are in the brands lineup? More than double what they were before VW. If Ducati put out 1x98R equivalents today, those bikes would be priced $50k plus, which would further reduce the number of potential buyers. In 2013, they released the 1199R for $30k. $10k less than a previous R model. Why would any company do this or the better question would be how would it be possible to put out a better overall product for $10k less than the previous R model? Easy answer is they can't. Manufacture lower quality pieces for a lower price and you can sell your product for a lower price and appeal to many more potential buyers. Buyer is still buying into the brand but the owners of previous models will always compare quality between both products.

You don’t get it… Those high priced low volume specials like the old R models are extremely low margin. From an economic standpoint it doesn’t make sense to build these rare bikes. Conversely, they’re a halo product that attracts customers because of their bling and sparkly bits. The marketing dept made a good enough case to get them built and to the public. These old R models are almost more poseur than your Jaret Campisi ”Customs” bikes because they’re basically garage queens that no one rides like they were meant to be ridden. Not one of you “race“ your 999R or Bayliss 1098R. Ducati doesn’t even race their V4SL even though it has a better aero package than the regular V4R.

It’s naive to think that Ducati‘s goal is to be a “premium brand.” I hate to break it to you but successful companies are in business to make money not make you feel all tingly inside. Their goal is to meet the demands of its shareholders by producing high quality products that people want. Ducati’s operating margins are between 4-8% which is on the tighter side (but inline with the motorcycle industry). By doing low margin bikes, you’re making the company worse off.
 
They’re having a similar discussion on the Porsche forums. The 911 purists are railing against all of the other models.
I’m guessing it’s going like this: Despite the Cayenne saving Porsche, it’s not a REAL Porsche!!!

Or how about this: If it’s not air-cooled flat 6, it’s not a REAL Porsche!!!

Or: The Wiessach package is a parts-bin special and is low quality crap!!!

If Porsche kept coming up with the same model presented as a special but with a racing stripe and a number board maybe you have a point.
 
I think Ducati loves being a premium brand but would very much would like to emulate Honda's sales figures. At the end of the day, the point is to sell as many quality motorcycles as humanely possible. Whether it's the lowly Scrambler or the mighty Streetfighter.

I put a deposit down, was told early 1st quarter 22' (if we don't have another COVID induced production slowdown) dealer said he sold his allotment for 21' (2) within an hour. Will be interested to see how many of these they actually make. For all the parts bin arguments the NIX30 full forks (not cartridges) and TTX36 and steering dampener will set you back $4K plus at sale prices IF you can find them, add the single seat cowl and exhaust cover and it would cost as much or more to build a standard V2 to spec, never mind the paint and bling.

I get the numbered racer poser bit, but they don't make a V2S, and for $24K plus OTD on a base V4 with Sachs its a relative bargain. Certainly more restrained and way classier than Honda Respol or Kawi KRT paint schemes. I've had a RSV4 RF and a S1000RR previously and they were simply overkill for street riding and if wanted a dedicated track bike I'd probably get a late model ZX6R for cheap. I was very impressed with the V2 engine and handling as a mainly street ride. I've put Ohlins on bikes in the past and when dialed in properly are a better ride than anything I've ever ridden. I don't know how many they are going to make, but even run of the mill Panigale's are a pretty rare sight where I live.

Agreed 100%. Congrats on the purchase! Too bad it's a 4-6 month wait.

I've made my parts-bin "959SP" by swapping out wheels and suspension and various other parts. Here's my rundown:

Bike: $17k
Wheels: $2820 (OZ GASS-R/Supersprox/new chain/new tires)
Suspension: $2720 (Ohlins NIX30 carts/TTX GP/1299 rear link)
Rearsets: $1170 (Ducati Corse)
Exhaust: $2850 (Akra slip-on)
Windscreen: $200 (Ducati Perf)
Rear seat cowl: $300 (Ducati)

Total: $27k

Ooof... It's basically a wash if you do it yourself (and do the labor) and buy a Bayliss edition.

The 959/V2 platform is THE PERFECT bike for everyday riders that want a bike for the street and track. Not too much power, great handling, cheaper insurance and parts.
 
Again it's just another junk pile with some Bayliss painted plastics and a numbered top triple clamp. Just build a "non top shelf" 99 platform put some Bayliss plastics on it and now you don't have to wait 4-6 months to get back n forth to Starbucks.

Depends so I am guessing bike stock V2 or V4? Then yeah consider it a junk pile. Big difference between a off the shelf parts bin and a top shelf bike.
Haha a $24k stock motorcycle is considered junk. Talk about being an entitled prick. Not sure why you’re here except to .... on others joy. Real cool.
