thank you so much for taking the time @BMW Alpina

I definitely think on your specific bike it’s worth all the time in polishing and the extra cost for top tier products. It’s not going to be out collecting rock chips which means it will be cosmetically stunning forever. Especially once it’s got the extra layer of protection from your wife turning your kitchen into a restaurant

I think for $900 or so, I’m going to let the experts at my local Ceramic Pro handle the job for me with some PPF in critical areas.
last night I was ripping around behind my buddy on his Ninja H2 and he was throwing so many stones up it was like a sandblaster.

I have plenty of experience washing / maintaining legitimate CeramicPro cars. There’s nothing like cleaning a coated car or bike.

I corrected and coated my Crystal White Triumph Daytona 2 years ago with a CarPro kit from amazon and even now I am still thrilled with the results. The bugs do not stick! I do ride in the rain and pro it dirty but as long as i clean it properly and keep up on the topcoat, it looks better than a brand new bike.
My V4 was delivered with scratches all over it. Dealer network needs a “how not to clean a motorcycle” class.
My Grips were also worn out for wiggling around in the trailer (they delivered it to me)

Now I am really intrigued :D, seriously...

This past hours, I was reviewing this YouTube video:

At 4:03, the detailer used what I believe is a BigFoot Nano iBrid HR81ML (Long Neck): iBrid Nano - RUPES USA to polish the tank,
but at 4:16 he switch to Flex polisher with extension (can't identify the model).
I believe this is due to the position of the surface to be polish but I could be wrong...

Life is a never ending learning session :)

Thanks for posting the youtube. Does anyone know what the rear sets are on that bike in the youtube ? Are they OEM on the V4 Speciale or aftermarket ?

Hi Bradp51,
That is the Ducati by Rizoma rear set, I believe standard for V4S Speciale and it's standard on mine

You can find the part# and price here:
https://amsducati.com/ducati-panigale-v4-corse-rear-sets
or better price here:
96280481A - ADJUSTABLE RIDER FOOTPEG KIT

and someone post an installing video here:

Thanks BMW Alpina
I was taking a break from killing termites around my house. Must be done but no fun like working on bikes. I like the shiny finish on the rear sets. Thank you for the links. By the way I have the same linkage from MotoCorse for my 1199. But like many parts not yet fitted.

BMW Alpina
I know you like Ti. You may find the 1199 Superleggera OEM radiator cap which is made of Ti will fit your bike. I swapped out my 1199S OEM one for the SL one which I just purchased as a spare part. It looks much nicer and saves about 10 grams in weight if I recall. It was about $110AUD so much less in $USD. I can check the part number for you if you like, I think I still have the box. Just a thought.

Hi BradP51,
Wow, this is new to me, Thanks so much for this information. I would love to purchase it when I place my next bulk order for the Ducati Parts.
I also found your previous post with the part#:

87220892AA Part number for the 1199SL Titanium cap. You will not regret it. Lovely piece. :D

Again, Thanks so much

One of the good things about this forum. Finding out something new. When the 1199SL came out, one of the things they talked about in the advertising for the bike was how they looked for places to reduce weight. The radiator gap was given as an example. The airbox is much lighter on the 1199SL too but way too much money for me to buy that as a spare part.

Finally graduate from the removing fairing courses today :D
Next course, is removing fuel tank... this modern bike fairing is so complicated to remove unlike the original 916...

I made a rough note on my iPhone to remind me of my step by step modifications tasks, I am sure I missed some minor task but here it is:

Change front engine titanium bolts with v4evo
Change left side engine bolt with motocorse
Take out front carbon fender

Replace Rizoma grip and cnc racing no slack throttle
Change air filter with Sprint
Turn on the bike to listen to sound before removing battery for a few months

Put bike on front choke
Use brake or gear to hold rear wheel and loosens both giant nut
Loosen front sprocket nut
Cut rear chain and weight it
Release from front choke, use rear stand and install ABBA center stand, then lower rear stand so only abba stand

Remove rear exhaust protector
Remove rear exhaust manifold

Remove OHLINS rear shock
Replace rear OHLINS spring
Install motocorse rear shock bracket, rear OHLINS and AELLA rear lowering link
(measure SAG before and after and adjust)

Install Akrapovic exhaust and rear exhaust manifold back again but don’t install the cover so have space to install Lieb lower carbon tank cover beside will replace the exhaust cover with carbon fiber
Retap that one bolt holes on rear swing arm
Remove rear seat
Suck gasoline out of gas tank
Remove tank and remove engine plastic covers left and right
Put tank back but not to tight, will remove again for paint protection and ceramic coating

After ProTi arrives on Tuesday,
Install engine bolts kit
install rear subframes titanium bolt
Install melotti racing upper triple clamp and CNC racing stem nut

Hi what is the melotti racing protector? Do you have a link? I cannot find a link to the V4 one.

Thanks

Hi Raul1976,
Melotti racing supposed to have a Dashboard Racing Protector in the next few months but not certain of time yet. It is not available yet.
I already have a Bonamici Dashboard Protector but still sealed in the packaging and I don't want to install it yet.

Oh another info for everyone and as a reminder (AGAIN) not to order things on Amazon in the middle of the night when my eyes were sleepy...

Many and I really mean A LOT of the bolts on our bike need grease when you put it on, to prevent stripping the thread and later seizing.
When I replace small amount of ProTi bolt before, I always used either the grease that came with ProTi package or use my Loctite silver antiseize, but those are small bolts with not much torque...

However, I was planning to replace the engine to frame bolt using V4EVO Titanium bolts for the lower front mounting and MotoCorse Stainless Steel with cover for the upper rear mounting.
I was checking the torque and it 90Nm and it require the Grease B.

I thought I already bought the right Grease B a couple of months ago (purchased while I was sleepy), this one:
SHELL GADUS S2 V220 2 HIGH PERFORMANCE MULTIPURPOSE EXTREME PRESSURE GREASE 400GM
Amazon.com: SHELL GADUS S2 V220 2 HIGH PERFORMANCE MULTIPURPOSE EXTREME PRESSURE GREASE 400GM: Automotive

But upon closer inspection to the spec last night (when I was NOT too sleepy), I realized I bought a very slightly different code but have very different material in the grease. I should have bought this one instead:
SHELL GADUS S2 V220AD 2 HIGH PERFORMANCE MULTIPURPOSE EXTREME PRESSURE GREASE WITH SOLIDS 400GM
https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B01BU29GQA/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_asin_title_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1

So because, I want to follow the factory grease requirement (and I am NOT in a hurry to ride my bike anyway :p ) I decided to order the right grease and now waiting for the grease to arrive before I can continue.

I also want to share the list of the official Greases for our bike:

GREASE A
Multipurpose, medium fibre, lithium grease.
SHELL Alvania R3

GREASE B
Molybdenum disulphide grease, high mechanical stress and high temperature resistant.
SHELL Retinax HDX2 or
SHELL Gadius S2 V220 AD 2

GREASE C
Bearing/joint grease for parts subject to prolonged mechanical stress. Temperature range: 10 to 110 °C.
SHELL Retinax LX2

Ok, spent a few hours and taking my time to install the Rizoma handgrip today, below are the pictures:

I bought this spacers a while ago before I realized that CNC Racing make the whole assembly that will not require this throttle spacer, but... at the positive side, I got that special screw head bit to open the uniquely shaped plastic throttle housing...
so it is not as useless (although the truth is,... I could buy the bits separately at much cheaper price, so this is just my excuse for making mistake :p)

Open the 4bolts:
IMG_7584.JPGIMG_7587.JPG

Comparing the stock throttle tube with the CNC Racing version then use this Silicone Grease that I bought for my old Honda Fit project:

IMG_7590.JPGIMG_7592.JPG

Install eveything back:
IMG_7593.JPGIMG_7594.JPG

Happy with the result, only got so mad with myself for not opening the new Rizoma Grip first... because turn out... the Rizoma Grip came with BUILT IN Throttle tube
So I have to disassemble and took out the CNC Racing throttle tube (now this is the part that will be useless), then hahaha, the ORANGE SPACER actually is THE CHOSEN ONE, so I install the Rizoma Throttle Grip along with the Orange Spacer:

Finished on the Throttle side:

Continue further below due to 10 picture limitation per post...

Now it's time for the LEFT side...
I bought this Machined Aluminum Anodized Spacer from Desmoworld because I don't like how the silver handlebar show on the gap between the Ducati by Rizoma handlebar weight and the current grip which is the same length as this new Rizoma Aluminum Sport Grip. I was thinking I am going to stack this new Desmoworld Spacer left of the current Plastic Spacer, but turn out this Rizoma Sport Aluminum Grip came with its own smaller diameter but same thickness spacer:
IMG_7204.JPGIMG_7602.JPG

Because of that, I decide to NOT used the Ducati OEM plastic spacer anymore, replace with the Desmoworld much nicer machined aluminum black anodized Spacer, combined with the smaller diameter spacer from Rizoma Aluminum Sport Grip, and now there won't be any gap anymore. Below is pictures of them installed:
IMG_7603.JPG

and here is LEFT and RIGHT pictures:

Ok... now continue my work again... hopefully can finish more things today... if I am not feel sleepy :D

Krytox for grease. Never used anything else. Just about standard for every aerospace application. Truly amazing anti galling/friction properties. 20 bucks for a 1/2 oz tube.

BMW maybe get a lift. A lot easier to tinker and it makes a nice elevated display stand. And during Christmas, you can put a festive tree skirt around the bottom for added holiday effect. Just an idea.

Great Idea Endodoc, I like it.
Maybe when I can get a larger house in the future.
In fact, I believe the higher position that ProItalia used to display their 916 25 Anniversario, with line of sight height, might help the "desirability effect" plus it was during holiday season,
that made me impulsively decided this model is THE CHOSEN ONE :p

Below is the picture, I took when My Family and I visited ProItalia and saw the 916 25 Anniversario for the first time on December 2019

This one is also nice, taken the same time at ProItalia:

Just replaced the air filter with Sprint Air Filter PF160S F1-85,
normally when I replace my car air filter with the higher flowing (I used K&N), I can hear some extra induction noise (if stock airbox, just a bit, if the whole cold air intake kit system, more induction noise)...
Wait, I remember, replacing air filter in the Aprilia RS125 airbox, and that made a good amount of induction noise), but this Sprint Air Filter PF160S F1-85 did not make any induction noise differences...
Maybe need to drive it higher RPM, but from stationary rev it up 7000 rpm, it sounds the same as stock. Well, that's still ok, now I know how to replace air filter on this bike :D
