I was at the dealer today to get the recall done for the left control switch supplementary wiring harness.

After WAF had flagged the possibility of a new update following on from his conversation with a representative from NFI.

I asked the tech whether he'd heard of any new updates.
He said he wasn't sure, so he said he'll connect the bike to DDS and see.

Lo and behold, there's a new update on the computer that's for "fueling" or something to that effect.

It takes a fair while to load (maybe 10-15 minutes)

It does indeed fix the erratic throttle actuation when riding over choppy/rough roads and helps one to ride smoother at any time.
It's especially nice upon setting up for the corner entry, mid corner throttle control and exit.
The bike now wants to work with you, instead of you having to second guess what the bike will do and be pre-emptive with inputs to compensate.

The bike also feels more powerful right through the rev range, and any perceived lack of power in the mid range is greatly reduced;)

The action of the EBC seems to be improved as well.

I'm not sure, but I think the bike is quite a bit louder and more snarly/throaty.
The tune is definitely different by a long way;)

This single update, is ground breaking stuff for the 1199:D
And a big leap forward:)

If this is a sign of things to come with the racing program.
We are in for some interesting times.

Thanks DUCATI for listening to our prayers:)

Thanks WAF for the great tip off:)

So, can any of our American brethren confirm this is global update that affects us too? Jarel?

Thank you for the update, Brad. Did your dealer happen to provide a corresponding release date for this update? When I had my rear sprocket swapped to the 41T, my dealer did perform a software update at the same time. I would like to rule out the possibility of this being the same update you are referring to.

should be global... i m glad to see confirmation that work on the pani is ever busy.. i ve always believed in its potential but it takes ongoing commitment to get there eventually..
let's not forget it happenend to the 916 /999 /1098-1198 series as well..

With the 899 being the succes it is, i guess the pani will be around for quit a while... :)

Good ! :)

Just asked my mechanic here in Switzerland. He said that he is not aware of any update (he normally gets an email from ducati HQ). Also he mentioned that this upgrade could be for US only. The pani has different setups for Europe and for the US, because of the fuel (europe is based on 98 octane).

But ducati published another little change to the engine breather hole of the pani. Some small platic tube and an extension hose will be inserted to avoid oil leackage.

Maybe/hopefully jarelj will comment soon. My next service is the end of the month and new fueling would be a welcome update.

i too had the recall done for the wiring harness. i also had my termi slips installed. the tech working on the bike was really nice and went over everything done. he didn't mention any update to the software though (other than the upmap install). though after riding the bike home i did notice a better response from the bike. but that might just be from the upmap

The best we get in California is 92 octane, that would make a huge difference in the tune, these bikes have a decent amount of compression more than you would normally run on 92 octane, that means they are pulling lead, and playing with fuel to keep these things from rattling, and the mid range is where they would have to pull the most lead.

Any specific Service Bulitin number? or Program # ?.

It deos seem like Ducati deos do a better job of taking care of their issues. Yamaha would just tell us to get bent.

this is great news and well overdue - my bike is going in to have termi-slips installed next week so sounds like i'll be getting a new map too :)

I guess those of us with TuneBoy will need to start hounding Wayne and Emma to get at least a clean standard ver that we can re-upload in case we have our own maps and lose the upgrade.....

Soon as someone can find out and post the release date, I'll give a call to my local dealer.

Just talked to "my" Ducati tech and he tells me the last meaningful update for the 1199 was on or around around December 13th... So if you have had any service work done since then your bike should already be up to date...If it hasn't seen a shop since before that date you need to get it done...

I am picking mine up on Sat and will report back on the difference. I also had termis thrown on so my report may not be completely accurate since some of the change will likely be from the exhaust.

I got that update when my bike was in the shop to get th 41T sprocket uograde.

am i on a different planet? capt you got termi? since when? holy cow. also is this not the old flash? when did this flash come out? do we have a number? these stealerships dont know a thing. i tell them about stuff half the time. ill wait to OMAHA OMAHA chimes in.

lol.. it only took me a year and a half to decide what to get. :)

Welcome to Termi slip world!! I think you will like the effects...

I had to wait and check out the Akra first. Now that I have I could finally make the right decision.

the akra is a hot system but i got my full termi system for 2k so you cant beat that or i would have stayed with slips.

2k? Man, you got taken to the cleaners. Now that the Akras are out you can find these things for next to nothing. I traded my aero fairing extensions and stock seat for them straight across.
