Sold my barely used 2014 1199S (1100 miles) for $18K and put deposit on 1299S. My dealer wouldn't do much on the price $24,995, but promised to give me a break when his first allocation was scheduled in. I complained about the prep fee as I own my own shop and can easily pick up the bike in a crate and prep it myself. But then my warranty would not be properly activated so I bit the bullet and agreed to pay it. Instead he promised a deal on exhaust and computer so I'm ok with my deal. When I purchased my 1199S they wholesaled my suspension upgrade to match my weight (springs, valving etc...) My point, the money isn't as important to me as my relationship with my dealer. I'm extremely busy and having a place take care of me is worth more than a few bucks savings in my opinion. ;)

I don't think there is too much negotiation room for the brand new 1299 models. I am still decided on the regular or "s". I am hoping to build a nice relationship with my local dealer as it is my first bike (and Ducati) from them.

Of course they are offering the 1199s for a great deal.

If what I heard is true I may put my deposit money back to the 14' 1199r. What I heard (not 100%)

14 Base $16000
14 S - $18500
14 R - $22500

If that happens I am getting a 14r instead

I wish. Those prices sound fairly close in euros. MSRP in the US:

1299 - $19,295 MSRP
1299S - $24,995 MSRP
Panigale R - $33,995 MSRP

The prices i listed would for the 1199's not 1299's supposed to be a big drop on them here.

22K for an R? That seems too low... They're currently going $4000 off MSRP at $25995 pretty much everywhere. I would personally consider the R as well if that would be the case.

I hope its true but "if it sounds to good to be true" well you know. But if they fall to 23500 im all over a 2014R

Those prices are a steal; giving up a few of the fancy electronic advancements, but those are great prices for amazing bikes

I think even if you get an R 2014 for the price of the 1299S, it's a no brainer.. And also, they both come in red only so you can't even argue about the look of the bikes...

Yeah. Im gonna ask my dealer in January what pricing they can do for the 14R
Hopefully its down some more. I always by my bikes in jan Feb anyways.

Since we're talking about the R in this thread and regardless of the 2015 R. - is there any difference between the 2013 and the 2014 R? Any tiny improvement, etc? Just curious...

Thanks, I found the post... Lights and some adjustments (reprogramation, etc). Well, in Cali that bike (R 14") might go for 34k OTD so if I can get it for 27K OTD I'm set!

Pricing won't be there he issue. Finding leftovers will. And if there are only a few nationwide then good luck getting a dealer to discount it. Especially when 2015 will be $5k more. Just sayin'!!

Personally, I don't think it's going to be a problem picking up the new 1299, so I probably wouldn't put money down to hold one since I have an 1199.

Interestingly, I stopped by the Kawi dealer the other day out of curiosity and they are only building the H2 only on demand and with a mandatory $2,500 deposit that is non-refundable. IMHO, that is incredibly short-sighted how Kawasaki is marketing that bike, but what do I know.

Not that I'm saying that its better. Just interesting how other mfrs are marketing their newest technology bikes.

I am still looking into the new R1 as an option.

I did, but on the new Yamaha r1m...
