Have you put down a deposit?

I think it's smart move by Kawi to require that deposit so that people don't just order them and back out the deal. Kawi dealers don't want to be stuck with a $25k bike.

Prices from three dealerships I've been in contact with for the '15 S model. These are all OTD.

$27,898.43
$27,644.88
$26,240.73

Freight and prep fees are varying quite a bit. The bottom number is including those in MSRP (the way it should be). I still have one more dealership in my general area that I have requested info from but they haven't gotten back to me.

I wish dealers were more transparent in California... Getting a OTD is a pain in the butt here... Unless you tell them you're buying today.

All of us here have Panigales. Keep your powder dry and wait for the first reviews on all the bikes, before throwing down cash.

There is going to be a lot of talk about everything as soon as the reviewers get their hands on these bikes. I really don't expect the 1199r to be that much different from what I currently have...., hmmmm maybe 15% better, not worth the upgrade yet. Especially when you consider you can get almost all of it off the shelf now...., Akrapovic, auto blipping, clutches downshifting.

Wheelie control and cornering abs? Well can I ask did you not know your abs wasn't working in the corner to begin with? Exactly! Your not there yet then in the "on the limit" department.

Now the R1M, sounds awesome, but we'll have to wait and see.

That's too bad Foo. A simple phone call or email gets you a deal summary from just about any dealership in Texas.

Thamer, those are all test points. For guys like me that have a 2012 base, I think the new R would be a huge upgrade. I would still like a better idea of the otd. I'll know in a few weeks when I go to the dealer.

Are those in the Austin, San Antonio, and Houston markets?

Freight and set up is such a scam. Set up is also know as PDI (pre delivery inspection). The dealers are required to do this before the bike can be sold. Once the PDI is finished, the bike is road tested and then delivered to the customer or put onto the showroom floor. The dealer is paid to do the PDI and has to fill out a check sheet as they go over the bike, it also goes on file with the factory. If there is an immediate issue with the bike and the factory has to get involved, they can and will at times refer back to the PDI to make sure it was done properly. The technicians have to have proper training for this as they have to sign the work order and paperwork which gets filed incase the above mentioned ever happens. The dealer does have freight but, they mark it up.

I thought freight was already taken into account when the MSRP was set by DNA?

Seems like any dealer that charges more than MSRP is a rip off artist to me.

If you go to the Ducati site to the 1299 and put your pointer over the prices listed as MSRP blah blah blah it states it doesn't include freight and other charges dealers are allowed to and most likely charge. Its then trying to recoup their additional fees it cost them getting the bike to you. Lets say they get 15 bikes at one time 15x495=$7425 they paid out extra. Not a rip off actually.

Good to know, seems the total opposite of car dealers then!

That it is. I wish it was included but it was explained to me the profit margin on bikes is nowhere near as high as cars so their allowed to charge those additional fees. Plus the dealer pays customs fees on it also its not included from the manufacture like on cars.

Email from dealer:

Based on the information we have at this time the expected MSRP for the 1299S is to come in at $24,995

Destination fee: $525
Assembly: $300

We will offer this unit at $24,495 +TTL
This price will include The above fees.

OTD will be $26,240.73

This was with zero negotiating. Just a phone call asking for a deal summary. When I got them back on the phone I mentioned that they were the only dealer to include these charges. They said they have no problem doing this if I pay full msrp. I have also gotten them to throw in the first service and some gear.

I forget the website, but someone here found a site that let you see dealer cost on a variety of new bikes including the 1199. I remember it being more than enough to include freight and prep.

I own the 636rd Panigale ever made...paid list...I think I'm gonna hold off a year or two and get $1000-1500 worth of freebies with my next purchase ;)

Small update. Dealer just announced that they will be showing off the new models Feb. 20th.
