Heat issues, addressed today by Ducati!

I used to think CF had his weight listed under his avatar, and everytime he posted he'd go on an eating binge ;)

More like a 'roid binge! I'm 6'4", 260 lbs with a 12 inch waist! If I clinch too hard I rip the cover off the comfort seat and have cracked a few of the shock guards too.

Beefcake!

I don't think it has anything to do with body mass (I'm not heavy/relatively lean) and my leg was roasting during the test ride) but I can appreciate why one might think so.

Given two riders, on the same bike and both riding in the same ambient temp (above 75 let's say), how could their opinions of the heat output differ so? My only thought is that one may not be riding at certain RPMs/speeds (lower) while the other one may. Beyond that I find it difficult to explain away.

As for people complaining about the proposed shields, I think it's specific to their looks rather than their worthiness. I'd be surprised if they're all that different than what the recent photo shows.

The heat is worse than any other bike I have ridden. With that said, this is the funnist bike I have ever owned and wouldnt change to anything else.

and it's great for picking up female riders....happened to me today :D

Since the oppinions are so sporadic, and everyone's bike is made from the same mold, per se. I may be going out the limb here, but I think it's a human factor. People that are too hot on the bike, have some issues with their bodies capability to handle it, i.e, you are a wimp if you complain about it. The tough guys can handle it, and don't complain.

Just a theory mind you, not meant to represent the feelings of anyone on this forum, or the forum in general, or even me :D

I believe I'm qualified to respond to this, being that I think I still hold the record for someone who has put more miles on a Panigale than anyone else in the world. And, modesty aside, my tolerance for both immediate and chronic pain is something no one could contest and few still alive could best.

It doesn't take a pussy to think bike is ....... hot. It's not whining or a bitchy complaint--it's hot as ..... I've put hours on it in triple digit temps. I've had some bad (and visible) burns to show for it. It's masochistic. I still wouldn't choose any other bike to ride, but that doesn't mean that a 5 or 10 or 25 percent decrease in heat wouldn't make the experience better.

Just wear racing leathers with thick knees, keeps some space between legs and bike when not hanging next to the bike :p, best fix ever.

Alstare Ducati seems to have found a more esthetic solution.
Maybe hard to see on the picture, but again food for thoughts...;)

^ now that's a "hot" looking bike!

Antihero/D, thank you, that explains it, at least for me it does. At some point one either decides to keep riding it, rides it less, rides it differently, doesn't ride it at all, or wears certain gear to help further protect the skin, but the heat will remain the same (so to speak). I guess it really does come down to how much the rider simply can or wants to tolerate.

On to the next one.

+1 on Checa's new ride (and a ditto to D while I'm at it). Lord, that thing has a huge pipe on it; here's the other side...

Interesting to see they've relocated the shock gas reservoir to the front; looks like a remote unit up under the fairing. Always thought it was a bit sketchy having that thing right next to the exhaust loop.

It's weird seeing these WSBK bikes with the head and tail lights to conform with the new rules. I'm wondering if they will be functioning does anyone know?

Are they actually lights?? I thought they were just painted on to look more like the stock bike.

New rules for this year to have the tail and head lights same as production bikes. Doesn't say they have to work but that tail light if functioning is probably going to cause havoc something that these racers will to get use to I guess.

Check out how much fork is extending through that triple clamp that bike must be low to the ground.

We need a new thread for these pictures!

Yeah, that'll definitely make the bike turn in even faster, but it'll be less stable. I wonder if the triple clamps are the stock geometry as well.

AntiHero, you are indeed the most experienced person on this forum and I for one agree with every single comment you make.

Caliduc - ONE persons opinion. There are several to both sides. It dosen't take 15,000 miles to get up to temp, so time spent on this bike gives no more weight then someone that took it for Sunday drive. Bottom line, the heat affects some people more than others, and Ducati is doing their best to correct it.

Heat affects some people more than others because of difference in locations and weather? :D
