Heat issues, addressed today by Ducati!

Its probably many factors - heatshield/exhaust/seat combo, heat, humidity, riding stance, speed, number of stops, and how much attention you give it while riding, and the need to express it on a forum :D

humm. Indeed, it is very scientific and interesting.

I for one would love the extra heat if the temp was around 40-50. But, in the 90s....that hurts. :D

Caliduc - ONE persons opinion. There are several to both sides. It dosen't take 15,000 miles to get up to temp, so time spent on this bike gives no more weight then someone that took it for Sunday drive. Bottom line, the heat affects some people more than others, and Ducati is doing their best to correct it.

i think that's just it.....and i've seen some of the riding videos posted up around here. :p  ;)

as for Antihero's opinions, i think they're invaluable when it comes to matters related to the Panigale's functionality.

Actually, I prefer CF's opinions. I pretty much hang on his every word. Meaning, after I read his posts, I want to hang myself.

Anyone in the UK had a letter yet regarding heat issues or is it just the US ? Sorry if this is covered previously....couldn't be arsed to look through it all

Not yet no!! But was in my dealer the other day (Mainly to drool over the bits I would love to buy for my 1199 and to make full use of the free coffee machine) and he mentioned something about an ECU upgrade.

Think that's the up map from nov/dec ?? Haven't had it done yet, getting a new display fitted soon, so I'll get it done at the same time. Just wondered if the heat shield was being done in the uk so I could hit 3 birds with 1 stone

Has anyone perhaps noticed a decrease in temp due to the up map provided by Ducati?? Maybe it helps the engine not run so lean in lower RPM's in turn reducing the heat with the cooling effect of the extra fueling...

I don't know just a thought..

I thought this might be the case when I got my upmap, but the weather was also changing (Fall) so hard to say. I can tell you that for this morning's ride in at 29 degrees, I did not feel a heat issue.

Just had an email from Ducati UK:

In addition to winning a special place in your heart, your 1199 Panigale won in 2012 an unprecedented collection of awards for its groundbreaking style, innovative technology and breathtaking performance. For 2013, we eagerly await the Panigale’s debut in the World Superbike Championship as well as its encore performance in the FIM Superstock, where the differences between your motorcycle and the racing version are truly minimal.

Despite the 1199 Panigale’s incredible accomplishments to date, it’s in our DNA to never stop improving the Panigale through constant development and updating.

Our work, also reflected in the soon-to-be-launched 1199 Panigale R, has resulted in a set of improvements that will enable you to get the absolute most from the best sport twin ever made.

• We have developed a new electronic engine map which also optimizes Quick Shift gear changes, and will be provided to you at zero cost.
• We have also homologated and approved the option to use a 41-tooth rear sprocket, to increase the final drive ratio.

These modifications will give your engine more robust mid-range response and – at the race track - will allow you to get the most from the Ducati Performance exhaust, whether you have already installed it or should you choose to do so in the future.

Further, we have improved comfort along with performance. For an optimum ride, you may choose to have new heat shields installed at no cost on the engine’s vertical cylinder and on the exhaust system.

The above improvements will be made available to you by the end of February. Please contact your local dealer for more information, and to reserve an appointment.

We are thankful for your commitment to a product at the absolute top of its category, as well as your appreciation of our commitment to its nonstop advancement. We hope to see you soon at one of the Ducati family gatherings.

The Ducati Team

Just had an email from Ducati UK:

The questions I have, if anybody can answer them:

1) What are all the benefits of 41T rear and has anybody done it?
2) Whatis the cost of replacing to 41T?
3) Does this sound like the new mapping is designed better for 41T?
4) Is this brand new mapping, or the new mapping many of us already have?

Thanks for the info on that email.

Little brother owns an RC8R which is supposed to be down at least 20hp on the Pani yet in both standing and rolling starts he beats my ass 4 times out of 5 because of the smoother power delivery. On a rolling start at 50km/h mine can't pull 2nd gear cleanly and first gear is so violent I have my hands full controlling the throttle.

41 tooth rear sprocket will fix that as it shortens the gearing just a bit. Thought about going with a 14T front but it seems a bit drastic
