I am very disappointed with this compromise, I expected better from Ducati. I will not be installing this compromise on my 1199.

Hopefully we can take the engine cover and leave off the exhaust heat shield cause its really ugly!

I will opt for the engine cover , which will help and leave the remaining picasso's masterpiece with the dealer.

After having seen this .... I will definitely install the thermotec wrap...

Pass, that is hideous, I never had a complaint anyway. I won't be putting that on. Wonder if the new bike will come standard like this?

That is the second most ugly thing I've seen on my bike...the first one being the ridiculous nappy the ADR would love to see on our bikes

All wishful thinking. I call BS this piece is going to fix the huge "heat issue" which was never as bad as claimed. You also will need to bring your bike to dealer for this, and they will be keeping the old piece to return.

So sorry to sound pessimistic here but dont hold your breath of what they claim in the letter. Time will tell.

I think so too, there are still the slots in the upper side of the shield, that section where the most heat will be coming out. That wider cover on the side is a joke.

Your opinion. I put 100 miles on a Panigale and the heat was extremely bothersome and that was on a 75 degree day. There are a number of folks who agree and its well documented right here on this forum. Ducati didn't go to all this trouble to fix a problem that "was never as bad as claimed".

Are we sure this is actually it? I don't think its as bad as some say. It looks a little different, but if it really keeps the heat from roasting my nuts, Im in.

I'm with you. I don't think it's that bad. What I would like, however, is some kind of data on how much cooler it makes the bike or at least a ride report or two, preferably from one of the people who complain/notice it the most. At least then the rest of us who aren't that bothered by the heat could make the decision on whether we want to go for it or not.

Def my opinion from owning 5 Ducati superbikes which were A LOT worse than this ever was. Guess we all just experience heat differently. I still call bs this fix is gonna correct anything.

Agree, I'm fine with jeans:D , but I got burnt in leathers.

That looks exactly as I was expecting ( dreading ) it would.
There's no other way.
I'm undecided..

I hate the way it looks , but I also hate that my bike is like squatting over a campfire.
.....

On this one I totally agree with you Gunny, although my 1098 S does not get anywhere as hot as the 1199 S. Considering that Ducati failed to get the 1199 heat issue correct the first time around I hold out little confidence that this compromise will fix it.

I do not like the engine cover nor the exhaust cover both of them look crap and it is a poor compromise.

On this one I think I will wait and see and let other folk jump in first and be the early adopter, which coming from me is a big deal.

I say again, I agree with you Gunny and based on what I have seen so far I adopt the same stance and attitude.

(btw, sorry niner fans) This all may not matter. If they are truely donig this as a safety recall, they may very well be required to put it on whenever you take it into service, regardless if you want it or not. Second thing, ask yourself, if it was on when you bought the bike would you still have bought it? I'm guessing YES.

Two questions:

1-Anyone wrapped the exhaust with e.g. Termotec wrap? Results?
2-Anyone has already had this (....) installed?Results?

thx

i don't mind the new header shield, but the engine case cover looks awful. either cover the whole thing up with fairings likes the desmo and leave the exposed engine case alone. a red fairing extension from the subframe covering the rider triangle wouldn't look half bad.

It's not a safety recall, entirely your choice if you want it or not

No. Just no. That is not going on my Tri.

I will opt for ceramic coating and deal with the rest. That looks like the hump on the back of the Hunchback of Notre Dame !

Cheers,
MoZ

There is no way that is going on my bike, having said that I feel worse for anyone who gets a bike after this is implemented.
