Was with Progressive for over 10 years. They gave me a ridiculous quote of around 3k per year for full coverage. I dropped them and went with American Family at 1500 per year for full coverage.
Then they write me back and say I can have full coverage on my S for 1200 per year.

2 tickets 2.5 years ago. Fingers crossed.

...to my understanding "supposedly credit" makes a huge difference on insurance now and when you reach over 25... when I first insured my bike geico said 450 a month .... then state Farm finally decided to pick me up because my unlicensed driver ticket finally rolled off after 3 years...

Age: 29
State: OH
Bike: 899
Insurance: $322/year
Credit: GOOD, 762
Driving Record: Horrible, I went to rider with 5 moving violations and 2 accidents

I had quoted a used 848 last year and Progressive wanted $5k a year.

GEICO
Queens, New York
36 years old
Renter, 780 credit score
No accidents in 18 years, no tickets in 14 years
Car license 19 years, motorcycle license 9 years
$1,000 Deductible
Full Coverage 2012 BMW S1000RR, 2013 1199 Pani Base
$2,150 a year and I checked EVERYWHERE. (Ducati $1140, BMW $1010)

Same here dude. Checked EVERYWHERE. My Hypermotard was only 30% cheaper/year than my Pani R too.

WA, 38yo
Homeowner, 836
No accidents in 9 years (claimed a literbike as a total loss in '05 @ the track)
Clean driving record
$1K deductible
Comprehensive+Collision on a Panigale R
$1450/year with Progressive FML! State Farm and Allstate were worse. Geico can go get .......

I miss when USAA used to insure sportbikes. My monthly premium for a 1098S Tricolore (same rates as above) was $37/month!

It seems crazy to me that there is so much variability in the prices we are seeing. I'm not that much different from most of you guys, but maybe there's a break at 40?

40, married, no accidents, clean record, credit in the 800s, homeowner

Allstate - $291.42 per year, $1000 deductibles on comp and coll, 250/500/100.

AAA Insurance

100/300/100 limits
100/100 comp and collision deductible
track day coverage (untimed events even though I'll never track the Panigale)
unlimited miles motorcycle and 100 miles car towing
$800ish per year

35 age
credit sucks ass in the 600's due to home foreclosure
Clean record (drive a company car so this must remain)
Single never married

I switched from state farm which I thought was the cheapest n had been on previous bikes but was more expensive on the Panigale. AAA is by far the cheapest. Not even close.

For ..... & giggles I just got a Geico quote to match/exceed my Progressive quote. They want only $850/year. Calling those mofos tomorrow!

Been busy with work / Riding so hadn't looked over here in a minute to see this. Thought Rider was only hating on the s1000rr. Everyone with them on the s1000rr & HP4 is seeing at least a double in their premium. I got my notification about a month ago. My premium was going from $520 a year for 50/100/50 comprehensive to $1400 / year.

Dunno why Rider was surprised when I said goodbye. And I live in Philly not Jersey. State Farm came out cheapest, earning my car and renters insurance to boot

+1 Some people are still with them. If they never changed bikes or coverage.

The scammers ruined it. Made false claims since the rates were so low.

In Vancouver Canada your credit score is not taken into consideration, they don't have to cos they are gonna .... you anyways....

Age: 40
State: FL
Bike: 1199
Insurance: $840/year
Credit: 700s
Driving Record:2 tickets in the cage.

I think state and specific required coverages probably make most of the difference. Texas is the highest rate state in the union so I had to step my coverage way down to make it reasonable.

Age: 45
Credit: 800+
Bikes: 2013 1199R,2014 899, (2013 R1 track bike not insured)
Record: 2 moving violations that the insurance pulled (actually had 3)
Rate: $1940/year for both (I was at $1100 in Colorado for five times the limits)

Hmm, correct me if i'm wrong but what does credit rating have to do with insurance ?? I mean bad financial decisions doesn't mean bad driving.

Oh well,

Age: 25

Sate: IL
Bikes: 1199
Rate: 675 a year with full coverage
Record: One violation 5 years ago

Go home insurance company, you're drunk.

They have determined a correlation between low credit scores and risky behavior. Can't blame them as they use wherever data they have to determine their risks. Its the same as saying well they shouldn't use marital status, sex, age or children as a determining factor and we have all now accepted those as deterministic criteria. Credit score will pretty much be just another one added in.

As they are offering no credit it should not be any of there damn business....

Of course we can blame them... Its the fault of the dmv/law enforcement for not doing their job properly. They should pay the deductibles. All jokes aside I think the only people who should be getting our SSN/credit scores is the CC company/bank/work place and IRS. Now a days everyone asks for that stuff - cell phone companies, utilities hospitals etc etc.

They don't offer marriage counseling, invitro fertilization or age related services either and use those deterministic criteria. Whether you wanted to or not, you agreed to allow then to run it so that you could be considered for insurance with whomever. If you don't agree - opt out. You have a choice just like they have a choice.

Wow... guys get off cheap for premiums in the USA, mind you the coverage values are very low when compared to Ontario (Canada). Getting insurance for the Pani 1199 is very difficult to get, unless you package in house and car etc.

Bike: 1199 base model
Coverage: 500 deductible, full coverage (1 million liability)
