How many will buy a 1299 twin instead of new V4?

I'm told that the V4 will be easier to ride than the 1299? While I was at the dealer sorting my water leak out both technicians said the 1299 is not the easiest bike to master.
I'm a middle of the road type of rider with exp in 1litre Jap bikes and do find the 1299 hard to ride fast, if the V4 is easier it may be a winner for us amatures

Dry your eyes the V2 is an exotic wonder, don't just move on without experiencing the real deal properly.

They aint hard bikes to master, they'll tell you whatever you want to hear to buy a v4.

Waiting paid off for me 2013 1199s owner purchased in 2014 sold to me in 2017 with 5K on the clock for 18.8K.

So 17.2K saving :D

You could have waited three more years and saved even more money. Or you could have bought it three years earlier and gotten three more years of riding the bike. But yes, I get your point. ;)

The 1299 is harder to ride because of the massive torque down low. I have an RSV4 and a 1299 and the powerband difference is significant. I expect the new Panigale V4 to be much more tame in the lower RPM range, similar to the RSV4. If easier to ride means less power in the most useable powerband range for street riding, the V4 is the way to go.

For riding in traffic and around town the RSV4 was easier to move around. Four little pistons with an equal firing order is easier to modulate over two big ones firing off 180 apart. But that's part of the fun, learning the Big twin engine.
I disagree, from my experience, the 1299 feels like a toy coming off my RSV4. The RSV4 is great for freeway stretches because it is stable and the ergos are more favorable for longer rides. The 1299 is perfect for around town, traffic ridding. In addition, I can flat foot on the 1299 and can barely tiptoe on the RSV4.

Agree, had a 15 RSV4 Factory and it was a dog. Love the 1299. Not hard at all to ride and 10X the fun. :)

I want the V4 but I will not be trading the 1299 in on it. I absolutely love that bike. its so much more fun to ride. My S1000rr is much easier to ride but I find it boring most of the time compared to the 1299. So if I trade a bike in the bmw will be the one that goes.

I'm not swapping my 1299 for a v4. But I'm getting new DTC maps for the 200/60 rears though! :D

Does it require a new map or are the calibration parameters not enough to cope with the different tire profile??

Well I took it for a fukin hard ride today 90km of all ove 200km + riding hard hitting through the box almost abusing the QS set up.....sadly the water leak is back:mad:

It goes back to the dealer on Monday.... so I'm questioning my sanity of anther Ducati, but then as you say the feel good factor of ownership :D I did even invest in a new Ducati T shirt ....I'm trying to become a ducatisti

The 1299 has been around and many have had niggles, will the V4 be better or will it simply enhance the feel good factors of frustration that comes with Ducati ownership?

But all that aside the Ducati is gorgeous and my ... it pulls hard even in 5 at over 200kmh

... me! You guys must certainly know how to ride:) I have yet to just crack the gas wide open in 2nd or even third ..... I take it gradual and even my wheelies are lame! With the best ones coming when I don't try
I'm even going to be brave hear and say I need a better steering damper that I can adjust harder (I have a base 1299) because I get the front wheel to chatter a bit when accelerating and it's sorta light on the tar, but not near how you guys ride

Back to topic when are you guys getting the first V4's ?
I would like to hear from on hand ex and not sales staff. Ours arrive in a March 18, and I'm not wanting to be the first owner.

My dealer said the Demo will be in Feb, and can fulfill orders in March

That's why I like my dealer so much. They are track guys that have taught me a lot. I try and go to the track with them at least once a month and learn/improve something every time.

What is the advantage of the higher tyre profile, forgive my nuisance questions but I'm a hobyst enthusiast and not a semi rider

If you are talking about a 190/50 vs 190/55, for example, the higher profile (190/55) will raise the rear of the bike slightly, giving faster turn in but also resulting in a little less stability, this may or may not be felt.

The 50 or 55, in my sizes reference above, is the percentage aspect ratio of the width of the tire, so a 190/50, the side wall height is 50% of the width of the tire.

Like I've said the thermostat housing replacement job is a big job and time consuming won't be fixed in 10mins.

If you think panigales are hard to handle go ride a stock crossplane 09-14 R1 absolutely horrible handling. The 04 R1 were perfect just like a panigale and so nimble.
