How many will buy a 1299 twin instead of new V4?

Hey Jarelj do the V4 DP rearsets allow you to switch between standard and GP shift without switching to a reverse quick shifter unit or having to re-orient the shift arm like on the DP units for the 1x99s?

I have the answer on this, the V4 DP Rearsets WILL allow the switch to GP shift without needing any additional parts. It sounds like you remove a screw and flip a linkage, but don't quote me on that.

They are not in the catalog yet, so I'm not sure which ones they will be. I know the Speciale was possibly going to come with Magnesium wheels in some of the early plans, but that got scrapped somewhere along the way. So maybe there was a new design from Marchesini for those, or they were going to be the same wheels as the SL. Not sure at this point.
Seems according to this French magazine they'll come with the option of the 1199SL wheels as per the photo. I've changed the frame colour and support link bracket in PhotoShop to black as well, as that original silver slab looks so wrong IMHO.

Yes we were told there would be a Ducati Performance wheel option available to buy the magnesium wheels as an accessory, but the bike will not come from the factory with them. I do agree with you on the frame color being black, I actually asked one of the design team guys about that and he said they left it silver to have a visual cue to MotoGP.

Yes I knew it was an option as they are quoting an additional £3.5K GBP for a set! Looks like I will be stripping my S down to change the frame colour (Cerakote)

Here it is with a black frame and support bracket, colour matched to the rear Subframe and swingarm or magnesium colour matched to the engine casings and fairing stay option. I also added a colour matched magnesium swing arm. Still undecided but black would mean only the frame has to come out to be Cerakoted as opposed to both frame and swing arm. Either way the bike is going to be in bits to achieve this. [emoji848]

Yeah, not going well. But I get it.....been on many forums for many years. I've got a lot worse problems than this. :p

You can always ask one of the mods to split the thread.

I will be picking up the FE. I think I'll wait a year to see how the V4 fares, see how the budget goes, and then perhaps add a V4. I am impressed with them so far.

Me too.

I've got enough payments left on my 1299 to help keep my mind off of the new V4 anyways.

In any event, it's important to keep in mind that this is the FIRST rendition of this new era. The V4 will only get better as time goes on...waiters won't be losers.

I just bought a new 1299s like 2 months ago set up with a 5yr payment plan O.O I chose to go with the 1299 because I didn't like the looks of the new v4 from the leaked photos and I also enjoy riding with torque, but don't get me wrong I would still like a v4 in 5 years.... What NW1299 just said is the same thought that came across my mind. Even though the v4 platform is taken from the moto GP engine it probably is still going to be put under the knife for years to come and waiters will for sure be winners as refected to the 1199 vs 1299.... only time will tell though! It might just be an instant hammah and they don't touch anything for 6 years..

I will be paying off R next month. But I plan to just save $, wait few years and see what comes out from Ducati i.e. R, Desmo RR, SL.:D

Also, after Ducati took a big step (again), other manufacturers may come out with something to compete like BMW, Aprilia? (doubt it), Honda (NOPE), Yamaha (maybe) in few years.

I had a V4 Priller RSV4RR and after 1500 miles I got rid of it. Great bike but I wanted the big V Twin sound and feel. It just did not excite me. On the first ride of the 1299 I realized I made the right choice to get back to the twin. The V4 on the Ducati will be twin pulse so it should sound and feel like a twin. The Priller was a screamer engine. Guess we find out as the reviews come in.

I'm told that the V4 will be easier to ride than the 1299? While I was at the dealer sorting my water leak out both technicians said the 1299 is not the easiest bike to master.
I'm a middle of the road type of rider with exp in 1litre Jap bikes and do find the 1299 hard to ride fast, if the V4 is easier it may be a winner for us amatures

For riding in traffic and around town the RSV4 was easier to move around. Four little pistons with an equal firing order is easier to modulate over two big ones firing off 180 apart. But that’s part of the fun, learning the Big twin engine.

I love the 1299 and certainly agree that it is more difficult to ride fast then a four. Once you begin to scrape the surface of what it can do it is very fast and very satisfying to ride.
I still love mine and she'll be sadly missed but my wallet doesn't have the firepower to own both. [emoji857]. The v4 better be good [emoji1317]
