52 here.

Started on a Can-Am MX6, owned countless KX's, CR's, eventually made the Pro's in MX and had a single-digit national plate for 4 years in ice-racing.

Nowadays I'm having fun passing the tattooed and piped up young kids at local trackdays.

Even if mine blew up a few weeks ago, the Panigale is the all time favourite bike to me, just ahead of the mighty CR500.

@Buliwyf Damn small world! have you been visiting mid ohio?

I'm only 25 definitely on the younger end of the spectrum. I don't think is so much the price as the bike as it is the insurance!! Holy crap is it crazy

The insurance get's better eventually, but it's still pretty stiff. I hope to get to the raceway next year. I have to get better gear, and I'm moving to Lucas/Mifflin/Perrysville soon, so there's a down payment and title fee's to save up for.

We do like to ride to Mohican and crash the go carts. No idea why they never kick us out.

Gotta pay to play ;) But yes, I have full coverage stacked with 100/300 and its cheaper then my R1 was... so I think age plays a role in this.

I'm 30. I bought my first Ducati at 27, an 848. I now have a monster 1200s and 1299s (and s1000rr for the track).

I'm a fellow resident of Columbus, OH as well! Shoot me a PM sometime you want to ride!

47 here, didn't own a car till I was 42, always promised myself I wouldn't buy a car till I could get a good one so the Porsche Cayman S was the first car I owned, sold it last year and got the 1199, missed the bikes too much......the Porsche was good but doesn't give the same fizz as the Ducati.

HST Forever

Yep.. Desmophile You and I have it right!

Here is my motto..

"Life should not be a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside in a huge cloud of smoke, thoroughly used up. totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming "Damn what a ride" Hunter S Thompson

Speedy

Hey Speedy, big thumbs up on the HST quote, words to live by! Whenever I get in an uncertain situation, I often ask myself "what would HST do?"

Did you ever read his story in Cycle World, "Song of the Sausage Creature"?
Song of the sausage creature

Godspeed fellow old coot!

I'm 62. I started riding in 1971 and did some road racing in the early 1980s. I have three bikes but still ride the Ducati about 4,000 miles a year. The guy I ride with every week is 66 years old and also has three bikes. One is an 1198S.

Whenever I reread Song of the Sausage Creature, I just have to wonder - how would he have felt on an 1198SP? Or the 1299 for that matter??

Probably about the same as the rest of us. But he would have been able to describe it in ways that I can't begin to. Paul

Another one from the young crowd.
I'm 62 and I learned how to ride superbikes by taking 1200 Laverda Germany to Italy for a friend of mine in my early 20's.
Still having fun on my Pani.
