Kawasaki's H2 Superbike

i don't see how 300bhp will be rideable on the track and wondering if the tyre technology can even handle that amount of power.

I see lot's of highsides.

I think tire problems would only crop up in overheating situations from sustained high-speed runs over 180 mph. Not really too many places to do that outside of the Nardo Bowl and a VW facility in Germany. A track day at Daytona could be downright dangerous though, of which there is one next month.

With modern electronics, I think they can prevent highsides effectively - in the dry, anyway. Kawasaki's TC has been praised as one of the better ones with mostly transparent activation in the raciest setting. It might not be that fun to ride in the no-highside mode, just think of riding the Pani with DTC on 8 - yuck.

I think if it does have that much BHP it will need a longer swingarm and wider tyres just to try and get the power down even with TC, also with that power i think it will only affect the top end not the 0-60/100 that most poeple experience in the real world.

either way you have to hand it to Kawi for pushing the bounderies.

I agree the more I look at the specs of the thing it is pretty cool to go waaaay out of the park with the HP number in what seems like a compact package. Only Turbo Busa's and the like have ever seen numbers like this.

With the relatively compact/short design they have I bet there is a serious wheelie control program. It should be relatively easy as Tom Sykes bike is making around 240 hp at the wheel and their wheelie/traction control system lets him pin the throttle all the way down the straight out of a hairpin with the front wheel just inches off the ground the entire way. This is going to be a wild ride for sure.

Amazing it took this long to knock BMW off the top supersport perch, so congrats to Kawi for having the sack to do it.

Dropped the 1st deposit at my local dealer today. Cant wait to get more info.

I can see this bike getting slaughtered in the first ride reviews simply because it has the same plastic fantastic controls and Tokico brakes as the $10K Kawis. 300+ HP and no stopping power. Not that anyone would keep that stuff, it's just that it will be used against Kawi as a way to bag the bike in reviews.

Also wondering how much downforce those canards on the upper fairing will generate. Will it push the front mid-corner or just keep you planted at the crest of a hill? I'm sure they tested it and the parts are on there for a reason, but you're going to hit 180+ really quick on that bike so it would be good to know in advance, esp. if you take it on a track with a 180mph corner. Yeah there aren't many in the US, but they are around.

The Chinese will probably try to sue Kawi for "stealing" the logo on Chin Hua furniture. My mom has stuff that looks close enough...if not more ornate!

I remain skeptical of any claims about 300bhp out of a 1kcc engine meant for anything other than one or two runs down a drag strip.

This thing reminds me of all the cars, trucks, planes, and motorcycles I would draw when I was in fourth grade... Everything had some sort of wing or winglet. Even tanks!

I was a ....... visionary!!!

From CycleWorld:

"Kawasaki is proud of this creation, and is allowing the H2R to bear the River Mark logo, a symbol from the KHI Group that dates back to the 1870s. Its use, we are told, is "limited to models with historical significance."

The H2R will feature Brembo Radial Monoblocs.

The pictures look like the H2R has M50 calipers...

That appears correct to me. I cannot determine whether the rotors are 320 or 330s, but either size mated to M50 calipers should provide sufficient braking for this platform.
