Dear Fourm
i want to ride up to Tail of the dragon in NC.
the most i can ride on the bike is 5 hours in a day then i am toast....

how far have you gone in a day, what did you do to make it bearable.
what mods have you made to make the bike more comfortable (skip heat solutions we all know the thing burns like crazy)

anyone seen handlebar risers?

c

640 miles...up to Oklahoma and into Arkansas.. Back to Dallas...Comfort seat..

3 back to back days of 600 miles plus, the longest one was 760 miles. When u was coming back from California. 6 hrs of that was in 105 f heat. Thought bike was going to die for sure lol

300-400 Mile days already this summer.

Much easier than on the 848 and other bikes I have owned.

Upgraded seat and CNC pegs. At 6'5" its not too bad. I want to get a larger tank however tired of the relatively small amount of fuel the stocker holds.

I rode from London to South Italy the week I bought the 1199s with the lady on her GSXR600. 3500 miles in all over ten days. I'd probably ship the bike next time as the motorway miles seem a waste but it was a great experience.

from SC up to Indy and back on a weekend, ~1100 miles round trip.
way up with a stop in Kentycky overnight, way back all in one stretch (10.5 hours)

race seat was the only mod back then.

now with the cruise control, wit would have been a breeze.

i met a 74 y.o. gentlemen up there who rode his MV F4 from washington State to the Indy GP.

My current record is 812 miles in 12 hours. When I was in the Army I would ride from Ft Hood TX to STL pretty regularly. This was on a different red V-Twin that shall not be named.

Did 3000 miles in 5 days once. A friend and I are going to try to do the "Four Corners" tour in roughly two weeks next year.

I hear ya Rogue.

When I was in the Navy, in 1988, I rode a Honda 600 Hurricane from Cary, NC to Pascagoula, MS when my ship was in the yards to get a new Sonar dome. It was 808 miles and took me right around 13 hours.

880kms from Sydney to Melbourne on my new stock 14R when I bought it last year.
Could barely walk and felt physically ill after it. Flew up and rode it home in a day, never again. Lol.

Okay, not quite as long distance as some of you, but I have done 120 miles in one hit, no stops and on one tank of gas, stock 2015 R......

I can't go more than 250 miles on this thing without being absolutely miserable:mad:

The trick for me was the comfort seat and getting off every 100 miles. When pulling off for gas, I'd take a 10 or 15 minute break.

They're not touring bikes, that's for sure...

Yup. I have the comfort seat, and dp rearsets. Both helped some. Still, by the end of the day my arse, wrists, and knees are aching. I think a main problem is I don't ride it enough to get all of my body parts in "1199" shape:D

640 miles in one day.. I have done that trip 3 times now, no problems. From where I live, up HWY1 to Mendocino, then over to Clearlake, back through 128 then Calistoga, Sonoma etc.

I find the 1299 to be reasonably comfortable actually.. On par with my BMW S1000RR and more comfortable than my Triumph Daytona 675 R.
