Look what MY R does!

Maybe I'm lucky too. I bought a "leftover" 2012 base model in March of this year. Now have almost 5,000 miles on it. Other than the hard starting issue which was solved with the removal of the charcoal canister and having to bleed the clutch periodically, this bike is everything I hoped it would be.

Same here

one more

I think he should try one more time, third time's a charm.

Until he's burned through three Pani's then I'll start to believe the problems exist..... :)

Educate us all as to what type of person you need to be to own a Ducati. I'd like to know. .... maybe Ducati should have a screening process.

1.Infinite patience
2.Willingness to overlook minor flaws
3.Starbucks devotee
4.Old and dumb
5.Tbd

These are the "qualities" I possess and I own an 1199.... Draw your own conclusions....:D

1.) I guess you moonlight as the buddah of our generation?
2.) I wouldn't consider the issues I've seen minor.
3.) I do love a Ice Caramel Macchiato(sp?)
4.) I would say more impulsive buying than dumb
5.) ;)

I'd say this is more like it. Only thing i'd add is that "Has to many toys doesn't give a .... if Ducati only works 3 weeks out of the riding season". Thats more or less my attitude.

I'll go back to building my TT Viper so that can break. Can't take the $ with you as they say.

Oh and I may contact you about coring my exhaust on the panigale if your still doing that.

Grande no foam for me....:)

For what it's worth I might as well chime in.

I bought this bike, not cause I rode it and decided it was for me. I watched it at the track, on the track from the vantage point of going into corners with it and watching it come out of corners. That it is undisputively the sexiest bike out there. I've owned Ducatis before and I wanted this one.

I rode my R and fell in love, it's visceral, and scary in a grat way!

Everyone here has legitimate gripes and concerns. I worry listening to others problems on this forum, and thank God I haven't had any (yet).

I look at my bike like I look at strippers....I secretly love them, but I deny it so it doesn't hurt. They are expensive, and cause heartache. But when they're on, it's a blast!

I will leave this with a joke.

A guy is with this awesome looking women. One day his buddy comes to him. And says " dude you have to leave her, she's cheating on you"! Everyone is ....... her and she's pissing away your cash. So he does. He decides the next girl will be different and goes for the safest, fattest, ugly chick he can find, cause she will be loyal and frugle, which she is.

About a month later his buddy sees him walking by with the hot girl again and he stops him. "Dude! What are you doing?" His answer? I rather share my pie than eat .... alone!

I love this bike and I am prepared to eat .... and share my pie with you guys here! I am learning about this bike from everyone here, the good and bad.

I rather hear the bad about this thing and be prepared to deal with it than sit back, read and say wow better him than me! The point is we need to share the bad in order to help others here not have it happen to them. The fact that people get emotional about the bad is normal and part of life, don't brow beat anyone for it. Help make the experience better for all is, and should always be the point.

That's all.

P.S. If my favorite stripper has ganerria and you know it (maybe you even gave it to her) let me know as I don't think Obama care will cover the shots required...lo.

not for you it wont but if you are illegal or pay nothing it will cover it. under obama eveyone should be equally poor like north korea he is trying to get us there in the remainder of his term.
they will push for universal child care next. here is an idea if you cant afford kids dont have them .

Regarding Ducati ownership, I'll join in too -

Having owned (continuously) Ducati's of one model or another the past 25 years, I've had two rules to enjoying them.

1) Never sweat the small stuff.
2) Everything is small stuff.

Didn't read through the 4 pages of posts but if the OP is going to call the R "a piece of .... bike", not sure what type of response he's expecting to get here.

If you want to post up mechanical issues to make other owners aware, provide advice, and look for solutions, cool. If you want to complain about first world problems, all fixable, on a $30k bike just to call it crap, you'll get no sympathy and frankly shouldn't.

I don't think I've owned a bike or car ever that didn't have some issues and the newer the model, and more exotic, the more issues. Just seems to me some have too high of expectations to have zero issues to have addressed. That is what warranties are for. Just doesn't seem all that frustrating to me, probably because I expect it. I realize that some will (in any car or bike) have the one that just keeps having issues, the lemon. That obviously sucks (looking at you Mark), but may not be indicative of the entire bunch. But as to those who have had a few issues that the dealer can and does fix quite easily, seems to me that you are allowing unrealistic expectations to needlessly ruin your experience. As the saying goes, don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good.

Love my Pani, Love Ducs, problems and all. Cutting edge design and engineering when doing do on a specified budget somtimes causes problems on the customer end because the customer is used to non-cutting edge design and engineering being represented as such.

No dash, no swingarm, no oil probs and very satisfied with my purchase!

Sorry that you have been having such problems, but they are warenty items so take it back and tell them to fix it!
