Guys,

Well I had an unfortunate low side at the track yesterday on my 1199R. Lost the front. Good news is that I'm fine.

Mechanically only sacrificed the left clip on, bar end, clutch lever, shifter. All inexpensive. Also broke off the turn stop on the lower triple but that's not a big deal. Left side fairings are obviously trashed. Front section, left top and bottom and tail section are toast. Those are very expensive. And also dented the tank which I'm thinking I'll take to a shop to see what they can do...

I saw the other post about bellissimoto.com and was very encouraged until I remembered that every R fairings are unique and has that that white stripe. I could purchase all the base panels from bellissimoto.com (assuming they still have them) and have a stealth R. Not sure that's the route I should go or not.

So I turn to the collective 1199 body of knowledge for recommendations!

Thanks in advance!

Tom

First, sorry to hear about it, glad your fine. Man you can get a decal kit on eBay for $30 bucks and no one will be the wiser. Or maybe now is the time to upgrade to CF ;)

Fortunately or unfortunately the fairing graphics are not decals or if they are there's clear coat on top. And I would think CF would be more pricey than OEM panels since I'd have to do the entire bike.

Options none the less!

Thanks...

This is why I am reluctant to ride the track...

I have the decals on my 899... to give it the 'R' look. I just had my bike Opti-coated and it is all under the protective layer. With the fairings off, you could have someone clearcoat the panels before you put them on.

Sorry to hear about your bike and am glad you are ok!

Sorry to hear this, I did the same thing on my 1199 when it only had 126 miles on it, left side 70+ mph, insurance wanted to total it, I could have fixed it myself perfect for around $3000.00 off of ebay. You bought it as a toy to use and enjoy, I would take all the OEM plastic that's still good, get the track fairing kit, and keep my eyes pealed on ebay for the OEM parts you need to make it all stock again for when you part with it.

Low side at the track typically results in scuffed up leathers and maybe a bruised ego! Walking away from a low side on the street is less common.

But I understand. The track is not for everyone.

Other than the lower triple that I'll probably not replace this is simple and relatively inexpensive. Left side fairings are obviously trashed. Glad you are ok,

If i was in your boat i would look to pick up whatever panels you need from bellissimoto as from what i recall they are ok value and as others have mentioned you can get a decal kit very cheaply but for it to match the intact side i would drop it into a painter and I don't think it will cost a lot of cash to put the stripes on. You are lucky you didn't dent the tank as thats when it starts to cost a lot.

However if you are going to track your bike regularly just get a set of armor bodies or sharkskinz and get them painted, this bike is built for the track.

Enjoy

I failed to mention that I did dent the tank. I'll probably take that to a shop to see if they can bring it back to life!

Thanks!

ouchhh ... know that horrible feelng .. when you hear $$$$ scraping... brrrr...
good you're alright... :)

I knew it would be there I have been through two tanks $$$$$$$$.
These tanks are very exposed and the design of the tank was the cause of my bike catching fire the second crash I was lucky to have some awesome tank sliders fitted which still ...... my tank but prevented the tank from being ruptured .
To anyone tracking their bike or racing look at decent tank protection .

This is the first time and second time . This bike is making me broke
