Awesome.

Not Surprised that the GSXR 750 is faster than the 899 on larger tracks. But as far as handling the 750 its a beast to maneuver even though its a pretty light bike its very top heavy.

Great video, thanks. I am considering going to a middleweight (if not out of the hobby completely). Love the liter bikes, but like he says, they are too powerful to really use them on the road, where I am exclusively. There is a ego thing for me for not having the most powerful, but I suspect that if I can get over that ego thing, I would enjoy riding a middleweight more in the twisties and to work.

Jump ahead to 4:45 where they actually review the bikes if you're short on time.

I don't regret buying the 1199. For us big guys (240 lbs, 108 kilos, 17 Stone) I think the extra power is good to have. And I love the single-sided swingarm and the way those 2 huge cylinders sound cruising down the street in 2nd around 4K RPM. But good to see Ducati on top.

I just got invited to see it/ride it at my dealer tomorrow when it arrives.

Almost the same review as the 848 against the gsxr.

Its all horsepucky to sell smaller bikes.

Don't kid yourself. On the street the 1199 works very very well.

The guy in the vid was just SELLING a small bike, my 1199 doesn't ride me, I ride it.

Under 100mph in first and second my 848 and 1199 are very very close in performance. This is not opinion, it is fact.

The only difference really is how hard the 1199 pulls in third over the 1199. That's when the extra torque and HP are visible.

Thanks for posting this. Big praise indeed from Neevsey. Saw the bike the day before at Orlando Ducati. Looks nice enough, but coming from the 1199 the down-market stuff really sticks out. The DSSA looks very inexpensive but also relatively light. The single color dash is a disappointment after the 1199 TFT one.

I can see where riding an 899 would be more fun because you can really wind it on moreso on the street than the 1199. However, I've gotten to the point where I feel it's all in my right wrist. You can go balls-out or any notch below that by controlling the throttle and choosing where you shift. With the Termi slips + up-map and MWR filter, I think my 1199 fuels about perfectly for the street in 195LO mode. If you'd never ridden an 1199, then I can see how the 899 would be the pinnacle of sports-bike riding.

But with full Bitubo suspension, Termi slips + up-map/MWR and Rotobox carbon fiber wheels, I really don't think I'm missing much in the riding experience...

Only over 100mph in "sport" .195 low.

I wind the 1199 out for what its worth in 1rst and 2nd

How many of us ride around in "wet mode" cutting canyons because the 1199 has way too much power?

Im wanting to kick sport mode up to 195 hi

I have yet to put my bike in wet mode, and the throttle works both ways. If I want a smooth relaxing stress free ride I take out my V11.
Ducati are going after the 748,749, and the 600 crowd with the 899. Bigger is better, and less is never more.

I rode the Gap in wet mode just to see if I could out ride my buds. It was a challenge not having the power available straight away. Had to keep the speeds up in the corners. 120hp mode feels like a Ninja 250 to me, twist...wait for it...oh there you are hp.

+1

waiting for power would suck if you knew you could have it :D
