it does make more power in the rs5 version by i think its 40 hp but its also way heavier than the m3 cant touch it on the track and costs way more money. the s5 gets smoked by the 3 series now 4 series and you want to even mention the price? the a5 is the same price as a 335i with a 2.0t come on now. lets not even talk about the 335 is twin turbo which i have.

My brother has a 335. Don't get too excited. A great car it is. It's not without it's faults. Like twelve injectors.

Your A5 comparison maybe is a little skewed. To the point that an M CAR SHOULD BE compared with an RS. The S cars to anything with an msport kit,
In aus, a 2.0t A5 is 325 money.

However you said that they are overpriced and underpowered. I disagree.
I'm not arguing they are better cars.

I don't think that's exactly true, well not in Europe anyway, I can't speak for the US but the C63 and CLS 63 are pretty popular with younger people, if it's the S Class then yes I agree with you 100% but then the same could be said for the 7 series, I think my favourite Audi is the V10 RS6, I don't know why they dropped the saloon(sedan) model for the new one :(.

I agree with this.
The C63 Is a huge hit, the new A CLASS range the same.
The CLA is proving popular and the ML is owned by nearly any mother with cash and kids.

so it's not BMW vs. Ducati any more but BMW vs Benz vs Audi? :D

I'm done...
Just making sure I reply to mark.
His BMW is a great company with great products, some of which are flawed.

Like 12 injectors, Within 6 weeks.

but the injectors are most likely Bosch, Conti, Siemens and not BMW, right ;) ?

I wouldn't be worried about the US market if I were Audi. Nobody in the US under the age of 60 is going to buy a Merc so it comes down to BMW vs. Audi (not counting the Japanese competition of course). :)

im 26 and have an E63 amg...what does that mean lol...I love Mercedes AMG models!

the rs 5 has the same 450 power engine the rs4 had which got smoked by the m3. the m3 also smoked the c63 around the track. although the c63 smoked the m in straight line. c63 too powerful cant handle. all audi has is a nicer interior.

I saw a review where the Stig had faster lap times in the c63 than both of these...

Check out this post I saw on another forum. I hope this is nobody from here.

Default Just traded my Panigale S in for a S1000RR
I used to be a car guy. Specifically, I used to be a Subaru WRX guy. After Five different WRXs in Five years, absolute brand loyal all the way a mate urged me to take a new EVO 9 for a test drive. i did. I bought it on the spot. Sometimes brand loyalty can blind you from the truth. That is that a competitor product (in that case the arch rival) is waaaay better.

When it comes to bikes Ive always been a Ducati man.

I had a day off last Thursday. Decided to see what all the hype was about with this BMW. Rocked up to the dealer in Ducati Jacket, Gloves, Helmet and of course my 1199 Panigale S.

Took the the S1000RR for a test ride.

Came back.

Immediately traded the Panigale for the 2014 RR Red Black and White.

In my opinion there is absolutely no contest between these bikes. Why?

The BMW is better built. Sitting on it in the showroom it felt balanced, in fact it felt lighter than the 1199 even though it isn't.

The riding position is much much better than the duc, in particular, you can actually grip the tank. The 1199 is not a riders bike in this regard.

Its smoother. Its faster. Its more nimble. It definitely handles better. its more economical. its cheaper. Its more comfortable, Its more predictable, Its turn in is sharp and accurate. For an average Joe rider like me it is soo much easier to ride. To get anywhere near the same accuracy from the big red Italian I had to commit way more.

It has better brakes by a big distance, it has better lights at night.

I am amazed that a company that hadn't really ever played a role in the sports bike market could get their first real entry so perfect. I think BMW have a problem now - that is how can a sports bike get any better?

I read a lot of comparisons between these bikes. The BMW normally wins. the reasons are now obvious. Over on the 1199 forum there are a lot of brand loyal folk like me. Ignorance is bliss........

Glad to hear you found something that floats your boat. Enjoy!

I wonder if Audi are more worried now the AMG range has gone 4wd-well it has over in the US anyway, we still only get RWD here because Mercedes have an issue with 4WD and RHD on the current models, we have to wait until the next gen.

I had a 2011 M3 and it was a great, well balanced car and so fun to drive, my main dislike of it was it didn't feel very well built, it had a few warranty issues and the dash was rattling after 10k Miles.

not to mention the new line of AMG's are bi-turbo. I don't know if the C63 is but the E and S are. I wonder what kind of power can be easily unlocked once people change up the boost and tune a little. and yea like you said the AWD is making this car a rocket 0-60. 67% of power to the rear constant. 33% to the front. all gears.

I've read people are unlocking about 680 from a custom map on the 5.5 bi turbo engines, I really like the AMG models at the moment, sadly the UK still is RWD only until the next gen ones but would rather have 4WD here.

that's a .... ton of power man. my mom has a bi-turbo e63 and my dad has a bi turbo s63 and they pull like mad. his SLS AMG gull wing is a beast too with no turbo lol. I wonder how tough that extra boost and power is on the engine? I know I blew 2 sets of head gaskets on my diesel excursion by adding a tuner/boost but it was a 6.0 and if you know your ford diesel engines, the head bolts are notorious for stretching and blowing head gaskets. you can say goodbye to a quick $6k if its not under warrantee lol. fml

that's a good portion of why I got an 1199...ugh that sound!!! orgasmic!

You must not have heard an Aprilia RSV4 with a full exhaust system. IMHO, that is the best sounding bike made right now. The MV Agusta F3 800 with a Quat D slip-on is second, just about neck and neck with the 1199 Termi sound.

I can certainly appreciate all kinds of bike sounds :).

I hear what your saying, however your deviating the topic.
Put simply his statement, was the BMW was better. And that generally, maybe as a slight to the Ducati, Audi, are overpriced and under powered.
Which is a sweeping generalisation, of which I made an observation that an RS5 compared to the M3 was not under powered.

Regardless of the "brand" of injector, BMW's troubleshooting, and the failure is quite astounding, using the phrase everyone likes to say, for a 130K car (in aus).
The car, is now on its third set of injectors. ;)

The new C63 will be a 4.4TT

I've got to agree here, the RSV4 is the best sounding bike I've ever heard.

Buddy of mine has a RSV4 with the stock exhaust and when he passed me at about 170 it was the most intense sound, like a jet passing me... I can only imagine how it would be with the full system
