motoxpricambi.com fairings…a cautionary tale

They also say they make their products in Italy, so it's certainly a bit misleading.

They don't say they are genuine Ducati parts on their website and it's very clear that they are not selling genuine Ducati fairings, so I wouldn't have bought from them with any expectation that they were genuine Ducati fairings. I'm not sure if @bp_SFV4 was told something different by email prior to purchasing or if the comment by email about them being genuine Ducati products was made after he complained, but based on the website I would not have been expecting genuine Ducati stuff. That's not a problem in itself.

They told me via email when I inquired:

@craig bush I believe @bp_SFV4 bought the street fairings, in which case it's probably fraudulent and, in the most charitable interpretation, hugely misleading.

Then again, it depends how you want to interpret 'we buy from Ducati and they give us the lower fairings for the Akrapovic exhaust only' - they (or their lawyer) could try to argue that they were saying only the lower fairings are from Ducati... it depends how good the Italian's English is...

I'll add that removing the Chinese logo and then saying that it was really a Ducati logo they had removed, along with the comments made in their emails, clearly says to me that they are trying to pass these off as genuine Ducati items when they are obviously not.

Dodgy buggers!!

Good point 👍

No, the lowers I got are Chinese. At one point they could have painting genuine Ducati parts, that doesn't seem to be the case anymore.

One thing that occurred to me after reading his email is that the provided parts don't say made in Italy. Every OEM fairing on my bike says made in Italy, cast into each part. Two flag stickers on the tail fairing, etc. If they were made in Italy I have no doubt that would be cast into the part.

Buy cheap buy twice simple!

On a slightly connected topic, what are the reasonable options (in EU) for 2023 V4R track fairings preferably with dzus fasteners?

Bikesplast dont seem to answer their emails. Motoforza said that their 2021 fairings should fit, but would require "a little bit of cutting" :/

You don’t want to use your side stand?

Well I hadn’t looked at all of them! 🤣

I’ve been looking at carbon ones recently and the track ones from Ilmberger and Full Six don’t have cutouts for the side stand. Although it’s for track use, I can’t imagine how I’d get it on the stand without dropping it in the garage… A side stand is quite useful. 🫣
