Had a two day race weekend for round 1 of MoM (Masters of the Mountains) in Utah at Utah Motorsport Campus. Only my 5th time on a track so I was pleasantly surprised that I took 4th in the Open Twins race (3 experts beat me). I'm 1 of 2 panigale racers. Our SBA president rides an 899.
I went off on a hairpin each day during the time attack race, getting used to the braking capabilites of my 1199. Lots of rocks in my oilpan at the end of the weekend.
per our tire guy, I ran SC1 and SC2 but cant remember the pressures I just checked with him every time I went out to make sure I was good. I have the pro chicken hawk 3 temp warmers and ran them on high before first race and then medium for the rest of the day. SLICKS ARE AWESOME! I've never felt more confident on my bike.
Best lap was a 1:43.9... 18 seconds faster than my last time on the course! Hope to be hitting 1:39 in three weeks for round 2.
The bike is great, and loud. Always punches ahead on the starts. Still havent pinned it so I know I can push harder. Starting on an 1199 is a different process than working your way up through engine sizes but I'm still grinning ear to ear so works for me
Thanks to everyone on the forum who helped me with either spare parts or advice. Next step is to find some local companies foolish enough to give me money to race
