I know some people appreciate build threads, so I figured I would share mine.

My 1299S arrived at D&D Cycles in Pensacola Florida a few days ago and D&D immediately went to work on it. They will take it from the crate to Superstock race bike. So I won't even lay eyes on it until it is fully race prepped and ready to grid up.

The person doing the majority of the work is Rob McClendon. He is a friend, fellow racer and has been the Crew Chief/Builder for guys like Steve Rapp, Miles Thornton, Bobby Fong and several others.

All of the aftermarket parts are provided by SportbikeTrackGear.

Here are the pictures of the beginning stage. The OEM bodywork has been removed and the gas tank has been removed and shipped to Andrew Swenson for painting.

I will update this thread during the build process.

Im not planning on it at the moment. I like to keep the OEM bodywork in case I want to covert it back to a street bike (like I just did the RSV4).

I will see how I get along with it on the track. If I get along with it well and know I will be racing it for the foreseeable future, then I might sell the bodywork since I have the Ape, Grom and Sprint ST for the street.

This is awesome, cant wait to see the build in process and see the parts you ultimately went with

Can't wait. I get to see Broome in the A Superbike race soon. Hopefully I can keep up for a lap or two if I'm lucky.

Thanks for sharing the build. If your racing it, is the electronic suspension allowed? I guess it would be if your racing superstock?

Looks great. Rich man's hobby. My cousin blew his entire $1M inheritance motorcycle racing and then started selling t shirts and misc track stuff - true story

It is allowed in Superstock IF it came on the bike from the OEM.

In Superstock you also have to run the OEM wheels and fork tubes...that is why I went with the S model. I wanted to be able to race SS, but I wanted the lighter wheels.

as they say:

if you want to make a little fortune in racing, you gotta start with a big one :D

Chris - I think you already went over this, but why didn't you get an R model again?

I actually wanted the electronic suspension. I am looking forward to trying it.

And I wanted the 1299 displacement. I will race it for a year in Superstock. Then I can go into the motor and will ultimately end up with something resembling a 1299R.

I know the '15 Panigale R has fancy this and unobtanium that, but I'm convinced the 1299's extra displacement trumps that.
