Also @beanz690 ... here's a video showing Sprint filter vs BMC vs stock paper. (testing starts at 10 minute marker of the video)

I do recommend not running the stock filter and using the BMC street filter with this tune from Deussen as they come running rich , your going to need more volume of air to compensate ... also a video of my bike running with Deussen tune as well. I've opted for Deussen's signature decel pop which is why you hear it crackle when reved, have plenty of videos on my youtube to check out if you like.

Thanks buddy! I’ve actually seen lots of your videos on YouTube when looking for bikes with the spark exhaust. Although, yours is the full system and a bit different than the 3/4 slip on it ultimately influenced my decision to go with the spark exhaust.

I don’t know how much of a conclusion I’d draw from that video. Interesting thought though. If I was in a particularly dusty or sandy environment I wouldn’t opt for the Sprint P08, but I’m not a fan the oiled filters either.
I just ordered a P08 from motomillion locally here in Miami. I don’t think it’s dusty here but may be wrong..

Glad to hear my videos helped you. I bet your loving that spark system ! Sound raw doesnt it?!

Just be aware with the P08. Over the long run it for certain wont be protecting that motor like a cotton oiled version would. Ultimatly paper filters the best but when you have a tune going , paper will cause more restriction as the engine is calling for more air due to the increased fuel map.

Ive ran the p08 , BMC RACE and the BMC STREET and both filters were exceptionally better than the p08 in terms of catching debris. Im in NYC so there is no dust here, and trust me when i tell you my filters caught alot when i removed them to inspect after 500 miles. As of today i stick with the BMC street for peace of mind.

If you can see your hand through the filter .... be sure a lot of stuff is getting through that filter....

I'd love to see some research on this. If a filter has, let's say 15% more flow, how significant of a difference is that really? How dirty of an environment is one operating in? What is the typical size of an airborne particulate in a given environment? One filter spec I saw gave a value of 1.5" of Hg when doing CFM comparisons, but what is the significance of that particular value? What does a V4 pull at idle vs. WOT? All questions.

just ordered a BMC street... I can def vouch for the dusty comments. Here in Austin i pull my P08 and its covered in dust after 500mi...i use a scope to see into airbox and I do see a very light dusting in there, but nothing like the 11/12 '99 bikes had....piece of mind the whole way on my new to me 2020 V4s...

@beanz690

This is exactly what i was mentioning , here is real life data ^ . Return that P08 and order the BMC street , Link below - choose standard version.

Street for me, even with full Akra exhaust?

J

Yeah ive had both versions of BMC , Race is 3 ply cotton and Street is 4 ply.

The race did protect as i saw dust caught on entry and the backside was clean . However i opted for street in the end as id rather a bit more protection for this motor.

cool thanks @NYCV4S ordered!

also picked up 12x liters of Redline 15w-50 based on your recommendations, will sample my 300v at 600mi this weekend and fill with redline. Will save the couple other cases of 300v for trackdays only moving forward!

Nice , let me know how you like it . You got the PowerSports version right? Black bottle ?

I installed the Deussen tune yesterday but only had like 10 minutes to test it since I had to catch a flight.

I could tell immediately that it idled a lot better and the throttle was smoother in the low range. Still need to take the bike out for a full day of riding before I can give it a full review, but so far so good.

I did notice the exhaust smell is still somewhat strong. I think the exhaust might be leaking where mid pipes link to the headers. During installation I noticed it was not a snug fit.

What your smelling is most likely the added fuel from the Duessen tune. These bikes come very lean from the factory and once that map you have a richer fuel map which equals more power also the US version factory tune keeps these bikes restricted and that is erased and you now have the full potential of the engine available as well. You would rather a engine run rich over running lean as it would run way hotter.

Once you install the airlifter and ride it a couple 100 miles the ecu will adjust .

i also added throttle spacers to eliminate the slop in the throttle , along with Deussen tune the bike is alot more responsive down low.
