panigale 1199s/1299s for my first bike

What kind of speed limits are we talking about? The 1199 runs nice and cool when it's moving. But it hates traffic.

You should get a practical bike like a Suzuki DRZ400s for most of your slow commuting duties. Then save your Ducati for special occasions.

If you can only have 1 bike, don't get a Ducati 1199. Ducati's were my dream since the 916. I have finally got around to my first. I'm not an expert rider. Can't stunt or go very fast. But I'm good at not wrecking and don't flinch when something goes wrong. A couple years dirt biking. A year on a DRZ400s. Then i bought the 1199S. With the ABS and TC controls set to higher levels, the bike is perfectly safe as long as you're smart.

The ducati Hypermotard is also very very fun. I have both 1199 and hypermotard. The motard is more fun without having to go as fast. and its sooo nimble. Very good for congested streets/traffic.

Hey im back, after 3 week in private big bike school, i learn how to use panigale 1299 and its so great and have monster power, my first cornering i nearly crash to a car, and i try to use in traffic jam too, its make me frustated too my b*lls feel like cooked, but i still can handle it, ive made my mind im gonna buy panigale, and ducati customer service call me and say ducati panigale can handle maximum 320 kg total weight in seat so i think it works fine with passenger, thanks guys for the info positive and negative, now i know why u guys say use a slower bike first then move to panigale

Only sissies use wheelie control so go for the 1199. You can get one way cheaper now too since the 1299 is out. The 1199 Panigale is a real pussy in its first three gears. Whack the throttle open and rule the traffic I say. .:D

The 1098r is a better track weapon than the panigale. The biggest problem the 1199 has is its lack of power where you needed it at most bottom end and midrange grunt is sacrifice for a average topend.I have never seen a bike suffer more on the straights than the 1199 wsbk knows they made a big mistake with the panigale. The 1098r kills the panigale everywhere on the track outer corner down the straights in every department except for braking don't mention handling please at high speed the thing wiggles like a snake wears the 1098r is very stable believe in nothing that you read and half of what you see.Why haven't anyone seen a comparison between the two bikes Ducati doesn't want people to know the truth about its flagship model and the 1299 will only hold off angry customers for the moment.

Wow that is all sorts of jacked up lol.

Can someone explain something to me....If you live in poor country how the hell can you get expensive motorcycle? isn't running water with enclosed walls and strong structural dwelling of any sort in 3rd world country more important then a ducati?? I'm confused... maybe all this is a scam from some wacko with a computer!!!

good day
ALL HAIL DUCATI!!

Zaid1199, in my experience there's plenty of wealthy people living in third world (and developing) countries. There's just a huge delta between the very, very rich and the very, very poor. I've never seen so many black BMWs, Mercs and Audis as I have in China, and it's quite common in some countries in South East Asia (eg. Vietnam) for the general population to be restricted to cheaper, small (typically 90cc Honda Dream but certainly <175cc) while the sons of important people get a special licence to ride 600s or larger. OP is from Indonesia; which has a bit of a boom economy and a rapid rising middle class.

I'm pretty sure track times don't back this up

Just wondering why you think anyone in the 1199 forum gives a flying fx%k about what the 1098R does on the track.

I think we all had that discussion back in 2012, when the 1199 came out. Old news.

You sound like another angry customer sad!

Keith you sound like you don't have a clue what your talking about . I read your other post all about the same maybe go troll somewhere else .
Have you raced your 1098R against a 1199 ? Do you realise how much work needs to go into a 1098R compared to a 1199 out of the box to get it to a decent race bike standard ?
I bet you don't have no idea .

Let the truth set you free it's all facts

Enlighten me . The same dribble went on when the 1098 was first released . Angry 999 owners upset that their pride and joy was now obsolete and trying to justify why it was still king .
Save your money Keith and maybe one day you will be able to afford a Panigale then you can let the jealousy go .
