The only thing special about V4R is the 5000kms engine refresh invoice from a dealer.
Maybe I can avoid it…
I do find it strange that I seem to love this bike more than the SP2. Maybe I just like new bikes.

How? It's not about your oil.
It's mandatory refresh every 5-6k kms

Who cares? if you can afford a £50k track bike you can afford to refresh it every, what, 3 years ish? A basic Jap bike engine refresh will fetch in a £5-6k bill these days. Or you just take a chance, like most do (including yourself) and don’t bother (it goes bang or you get lucky and sell it before it does). MotoRapido charge £9k + vat, including polished gears for a full refresh on an R, I bet you won’t get much change from £6k for a full rebuild on a base engine Panigale

You can refresh it or sell it at the right time and that money goes to a new bike.

‘I'm going to ask Bulega if there was any contact because I didn't see’ – Marc Márquez
The Ducati’s Race of Champions in Misano was marked by controversy when Marc Márquez and Nicolò Bulega were involved in an accident while fighting for third place in the final corner. The footage doesn’t make it clear whether there was contact from Márquez (Gresini, MotoGP) with Bulega (Aruba.it...motorcyclesports.net
Okay, I thought it was obvious.
I know someone who recently sold their R and the new buyer got a hefty bill. The seller avoided it. Timing…
No idea why you are talking about oil.
Different attachment for the rearsets, so you wouldn’t be able to transfer rearsets from the previous models.
Looks like the ones that you can get from Ducati can only be adjusted to three different heights. A bargain at 1,785 Euros.
Pretty sure Spider will make one in no time
So you’ve gone down this route? Dropping £10k (or 1/5th of the price of a new bike to race in the amateurs) every 3 years seems a bit of a fools errand. And £5-6k is significantly less than £10k. An 1103 V4 is the way to go to race amateur or do trackdays not the R unless you race professionally. Trackday’ing an R especially if you’re running in the novice group is just dumb.
Just for comparison, an R1 crate engine is £8700 and can be had from any Yamaha dealer. A crate R engine is mythical and will probably set you back at least $12-15k (total guess because no one knows).
I say every 1 year if you use it properly, but otherwise fair enough.
Yeh maybe, I struggle to do more than a thousand miles a year on track tbh. Couple of euros and a couple Donington’s is normally all I can fit in.
According to MR, 6000 miles before refresh is ok with regular valve clearance checks for a ‘track bike’.. who knows. Will sell mine when the warranty is up
