Does it seem reasonable to you that a 200hp bike which is limited to 8000 RPM is "illegal" but a smaller motorcycle which makes the same power as the 200hp one at its peak is "legal?"
 
Yes Craig, your correct. The 2022 S1000RR his limiter is set at 9000rpm till the first service. It's the first bike who has this as far as I know. Maybe more brands will follow? So it's has nothing to do with something legal.

2015 S1000RR also had it. Not 100% sure on the Gen2, possible.
 
So, BMW is the only manufacturer till now who limits the RPM in the running-in periode then.
 
who cares........ if you do the 1960s run in thing .. great. If they want you to do it and don't trust you then limit the revs...well done.
