Seepage from rear valve cover gasket. Thoughts?

Bingo this is the one i was mentioning earlier- I had to get a wrench around the back bolt to keep it from spinning.
 
My parts are on the way. I hope to have mine ready by the end of the weekend.

Those that have replaced the gaskets. Is it a 1 hour job, 2 hour, 3 hour?

I only changed the vertical cylinder and it didn't take too long. Not sure how difficult the horizontal cylinder would be. I didn't remove the tank, just held it up.

Will do the same as Mine is sweating a bit on my rear cylinder head...

Seems like, this is the best way to have access to the rear cylinder head...

What's the trick to get the gasket to stay in place when your putting it back on the bike. Everytime I put the gasket in the upper groove it slips out.

I made the biggest mess ever tonight. One gasket trashed.

Mine wasn't kinked or anything...didn't have any problems keeping it in place. That sucks.
 
I did mine Saturday. However I went a different approach. I'll post once it's tested.
 
Are you seriously claiming that you can change both gaskets in under two hours? I am working on that now and only getting an access to front cylinder is a two hours job. Have to take radiators out, upper one at least but lower one will drop of in two minutes. Ofcourse you have to take all fairings off too. You cannot get radiator frame off... Front wheel is good to get out too, i left mine there but that was not good idea, it comes so easily off.
 
Jesus christ, do you really need to remove all those parts to change the valve cover gaskets??

Do the rear cylinder covers need to come off as well?

Also, do you guys recommend replacing both external AND internal valve cover gaskets? Or just internal?

Edit: It's weird that the shop manaul never mentions removing the subframe for accessing the valve cover gasket; it says to remove seat, tank, and spark-plug.

WHen you remove the radiator, is coolant running everywhere?? Or did you remove it without disconnecting pipes?
 
There is a drain plug on left side of the lower radiator but for me coolant always goes everywhere, every hose you pull will spill some but rags come to the rescue.
