takes it where? ¿ ¿ down a highway straight ¿ ¿ ¿ and the 2014 Panis r faster than the 2012s LOL!

(you've timed yourself on both bikes on same day? really? or just some drag strip runs on public roads ¿)

on the back roads straight out against other bikes etc. i also have both bikes so im pretty sure i know which one is faster.

it does "feel" faster, huh? u do realize that certain bikes feel faster but timed are way slower ¿ ¿ ¿ and what r u doing on public roads testing the limits of these bikes anyhow ¿ ¿ ¿ ¿ maybe ur testing the gene pool ¿ ¿ ¿

trying to win some races on public roads ¿ ¿ LOL!

yea youre right some bikes do feel faster but arent. thats the panigale right there. the bmw is so smooth you cant believe you are going that fast

u clearly wanna hate on the pani over and over and over and thatz fine as u sing the HP4 praises: but what is your ultimate point ¿ ¿ ¿

and if u r going that "fast" on public roads....well u know....

my ultimate point is if the rumor is true a bike half the price of the sl and outperform it. im out of this thread mods you can shut it down. make one comment how one brand is better than another a war starts. i would love to see what bmw does for a bike against the sl. as i stated all a rumor but if true would be unreal for sure.

what is your point re: "a brand is better" over and over and over in the competing brands' forum ¿ ¿ ¿

to be honest and fair, and don't flame me here cos I love my pani, but I swear the ZX10R I had before my Pani, was faster and got there faster....this is just a gut feeling though, no timing, no track, just hitting it hard in a straight line wringing boths bikes necks....Oh wait a minute, this is sport mode on the Pani.....maybe for once I should try race mode, for a straight line hit anyways

I didn't like the dealership that I got my bike from, so when they put it in Wet Mode, handed me the keys, and told me to "go easy", I switched it over to Race out of pure spite. Never looked back.

Come on guys haven't you guys figured out Mark likes to ruffle your feathers?

I rode the BMW HP4 many of times and it is blazing fast in a straight line. The engine is that powerful we all know its secret is due to the lighter crank and gearing ratios. I'm not sure if there is a liter bike up to a 1000cc straight out of the crate could beat it in a straight line without engine mods. I test rode the Panigale and BMW back to back prior to making the purchase. I notice the BMW had quicker acceleration from the get go but to me the Ducati handled and brake way better through the canyons felt less top heavy so I bought the Ducati over the BMW i didnt care about the 2 tenths of a second. Don't get me wrong the BMW is a great bike in every category and you don't feel the things I just mentioned unless you rode one after another.

BTW Mark, my old 2000 pristine, unmodded, unrestricted Busa eats it for breakfast, lunch and dinner everyday any day at 1/2 the cost of the HP4 and my Base Pani with my engine mods will eat eat for lunch for less cost than HP4 comp so there buddy :D

There is NO way any $30k BMW HPx super special will "outperform" the SL. The HP4 is already a HUGE PIG, and would need to go on a diet DOUBLE what the SL went through to get to the weight where it could compete on the track against the SL. It would be a $100,000 bike with a helium-filled frame. Drag racing then, is that what we're talking about? Whatever bike has more top-end horsepower is the best bike? If that's the case, then all of these bikes are going to be eclipsed by the new supercharged Kawi coming out, right?

Couldn't agree more even the ama BMW bikes that have serious weight reductions and putting out 200bhp at the crank cost in excess of $120k.

I think BMW have a fantastic platform but to get to an sl weight platform would cost a significant sum more than the $30k quoted in the original post
