Ok, let me be more clear. The 2015 Panigale R doesn't have TI exhaust valves. All Panigales have TI intake valves, and steel exhaust valves. The SL is the only bike that has TI exhaust valves.

All Panigales have tianium valves?

All the Panigales have titanium intake valves. There were some early press materials that said the Pani R had both titanium intake and exhaust valves. But, there must have been a late change because the R didn't get the ti exhaust valves.

I cant believe you are debating this at that price.

If you have the money...

DO IT!!! DO IT NOWWW!!!:D

i bought a new R recently and was debating a SL but if one was available for $45k it would have been a no brainer.

Good guys down there at AMS!

Jeff Nash is a true legend guys! Will never forget his crash at VIR that scored him a Help ride to hospital- thats how bad it was. I didnt know who he was at the time but knew the name. When I met him years later I didnt put it all together until he mentioned it to me, and to think I was actually there too when he almost died!

They seriously have TWO and they are not gone yet? Unreal.

Marty Scribner is the Sales guy down there if anyone needs to know, and drop my name with him or Jeff when they put a deposit on one! :)

100%

A well publicised feature of the new engine. Only the intake.

See below a cut a paste of a 2012 release

With such large inlet valves operating at higher rpm, the intense inertial forces have been controlled by using titanium instead of steel, a solution only previously used on full “R” models. The new valves are actuated by racing-derived rocker arms, 'super-finished' for reduced friction and fatigue and then coated in polymeric-like carbon (PLC), a process originally developed for the aerospace industry.

I bought my 1299S and Multistrada 1200S from Marty at AMS this year.

I done several private track days hosted by AMS, we've had 5 or 6 SL's attend these events. I guess one or two of those owners might be unloading them..

or they know something we don't like new exclusive bike coming out in year or two. :D

I thought one of the SL's for sale was Jeff's track bike. Not sure about the other one. Michael, perhaps?

I think there is a line forming on the OP's find. I know I would sell my RR to get my hands on it. I don't want to get rid of the 899 and I have a 2 bike in the garage max imposed by the boss.

My thoughts on collectable bikes. If I had the cash to buy an SL, I would try my best to keep it.

As they are limited in numbers, they may eventually fetch a good price as they become rarer.

I personally would not sell one collectable to buy the newest one. Kinda defeats the purpose for me. Unless of course I was really cashed up and could buy as many as I wanted.

Sadly not the case for me :(

Good point but more likely 20k more than the R. You think its still worth it? It is subjective of course. :D

yes 100% if you can swing it sl dont even think twice. performance may be close but the bike isnt.

Your words are true indeed.

Desmo RR even after 8 years or so still not fetching a good price. As low as 35k to 50ks right now. Maybe 20 years more?

And I would think RR will be more "rare" in that its unique as it's own model unlike SL "Panigale."

You would think if anyone, Jeff would keep the bike as with Desmo RR and etc... but I guess he gets whatever is the newest and badness and move on.

I remember him getting the R when it first came out and then got the SL when it came out. :D

Funny I've been looking too but want one for the track. So rather not pay the premium for a low mileage, collector. If OP passes put me in line as interested.

In that case, you should look at AMS dallas that has one for 48k for 3k miles or so. Maybe you can bring it down a bit.

OP hasn't been on since his post and he has said "probably" mid 40k which tells me that he think he can bring it down but I doubt it as you can see much have already said on this thread, they would buy it for that.
