Was just gonna post this myself. Good review from Chris. The lad can ride. That's for sure. As for the Ducati test rider. To get with in 4 secs of a GP Bike. Feckin hell.

I remember reading about Sylvian Guintoli turning up at donnington or oulton Park on a bog stock 1198s when he rode one in WSBK. He rode there number plate, road tires, mirrors and devastated the fast group. Was 3 secs off the BSB lap record. He didn't push any harder as he had to ride home! Did his mag interview and went home! I hate people with talent.

We really haven't seen that over the last 10 years that electronics have gotten more prevalent on the track, it seems to me that the number of crashes at track days now is slightly lower than it used to be. The most common crashes we see are cold front tire corner entry low sides (which who knows, might be helped with the cornering ABS now), and the standard mid-corner low side from too much lean angle and/or choppy throttle/brake use (which theoretically should be helped with DTC). Well, and of course the most damaging crashes are "I didn't think I was going to make the corner, so I stood it up and ran off the track", then the most horrific crash imaginable happens in the grass or gravel! When it comes to that type of crash, the ever-increasing horsepower of these bikes can be an exacerbating factor as the terminal speed entering the braking zone is much higher with much smaller margin for error.

So with speeds being ever higher and crashes being even slightly less, that indicates to me that the electronics could indeed be saving some people from crashing out there.

Easier to get within 4 seconds at at rack like Valencia given the tight nature of the circuit. At a place like COTA or Silverstone the gap would probably be a lot bigger.

But, yes, this bike rips!

Sorry that's incorrect. Alessandro Valia posted up an official time of 1'36.8 Track record is 1'29.4 by Jorge Lorenzo on a Yamaha, so actual difference was 7.4 seconds not 4. Still impressive all the same.

No, that is correct. Nobody said Valia rode within 4 secs of the track record. He was comparable to the MotoGP field backmarkers. On a road bike, essentially.

How about this statement:"You can go into the corner too hot and you will still make the apex". That sounds nonsense to me. If you can make the apex you were not "too hot" by definition.

Lot of ........ from reviewers but that is what you always get. Bike is awesome and we knew it should be.

the last fastest lap of motogp was 1:31.5 Zarco, 10 º Cruchtroll 1:32,2 and it wasn ´t done in January.:pag

According to the test rider his fastest time was 1.34XX. The recorded one shown in this thread isn't his fastest lap.

Right about what Sykes was running at Valencia w Kawi 5 years ago. On a street legal bike.

Well I took the apex statement to mean - those moments where you arrive at the corner thinking oh fu#k fu#king fu#kety fu#k fu#k, time to exit stag-left scenarios But instead just chuck it in and you'll make it. The bike is much much more capable than you ever will be. Whilst I agree that if you can make the apex you weren't too hot in the first place, everyone has a different I have ballsed this up setting! I know mine is set to fairly low!

Valia says it isn ´t his best lap. he says did 1:34.

At the dealer launch last October, Domenicali said that Valia was 4 seconds off the MotoGP race lap record at Valencia, so I think that 1:34 lap was from last year when they were doing final testing. It was specified that was on an otherwise box stock V4S with the Akra exhaust and Pirelli slicks.
