Hello everyone,

Today, I got a set of two new keys that I was gonna try since I had lost the only key I had. I also had trickle charger hooked up to my bike. I took off OEM side mirrors, and hooked up mirror block off signals and checked them after turning the ignition on and they were working. I then fired up the bike and could smell and see very little smoke coming to the front. I shut it down. The only thing I changed as far as wiring is concerned was simply take side mirros off and put on aftermarket blinkers. Two simple quick connects. Other thing was trickle charger was on and third change was new keys which sometimes works good and sometimes ask me code which upon putting in takes me to the dash but says E-lock now but bike fires up? Weird! Anyways, I also changed windscreen to black aftermarket screen and lost two lower rubber nuts probably somehwere in the bike as I couldn't find them anywhere around. Also now check engine light is on and doesn't go away along with little smoke and smell.

I have no idea what is going on. I don't think any of the stuff that I did could result in burning something unless its those two windscreen rubber nuts burning somehwere which is also very lamost impossible.

I am in Calgary and I have almost lost the entire riding season to these stupid problems which seems to be increasing day by day having only ridden within city for 3-4 days!

🥴😓😠😤😭

Starting to sound like it's time for a trip to the Dealer. Smoke and a Check Engine light are never a good thing. hardly something for an at-home repair session unless you are VERY good with the bike. What color/scent is the smoke? The location of the two lower windscreen nuts is close to the air inlet tracts for the engine, but hardly in a hot place, at least not hot enough to make them melt and smoke, unless they fell far enough into the engine area to rest on a header pipe. I loosen the entire front faring when I do a windscreen replacement, and reinstall it as a unit assembly. that prevents problems with lost rubber nuts.
