I have not owned a street bike for years, my last street bike, 2002 Ducati 998 back in 2003-2006 was a lot cheaper than what I am being quoted by the same Insurance company..(GEICO)

I am in my Low 40s, NO accidents or tickets in the last 16 years. I used to pay $43 a month for the 2002 998 with $0 Deds on both Comp/coll.

I am now being quoted $78 a month for 2012 1199 (base) with $250 Deds on comp and collision ( $936 a year).

I think thats too much for someone with 22 years of street riding experience, no accidents or tickets since 1999..

It is possible the rates decrease after the first 1-2 renewals (GEICO renews every 6 months)

Do you guys mind sharing what you are paying for full coverage?

Hey,

I pay about $1250 total for full coverage on both my 2013 1199 Base and 2011 Monster 796 through Progressive.

Initially they wanted over $3k for just the 1199, so I switched to Allstate for a year and when coming back got a more competitive rate.

I think in general rates are high in the NY metro area due to accidents/thefts etc...

ETA: 33 with no tickets/accidents in the last 10 years. $500 deductible.

thank you for sharing.

Looks like I may have to shop around and go with another company for a year or so.. GEICO is issuing an entirely separate policy because they keep auto and motorcycle separate, so this wont affect my auto policy.
Might be worth coming back to GEICO in a year or even earlier.

Thanks again

No recent tickets or at fault accidents
14' 1199
$498.55 yearly
$1k deductible

I think the $250 deductible is what is killing you. Keeping your comprehensive at $250 shouldn't cost much, but a collision that low is going to drive up the cost considerably.

Age:34
No recent accidents ,one speeding ticket (in a car)
2014 899
$902.00 per year
$500 deductible
so...you're not that far off par with most . Like bp7178 said the 250 deductible is what is making the payment so high . If you ask me your are getting a pretty good deal.

Age 63.
30+ yrs riding experience.
Premium down to about $820 a year now.
2 tickets the past 3 years. 1 claim ($300 towing charge).

$980/yr

100/300/100 coverage

$100 comp/collision deductible

Unlimited mileage towing service

Track day (untimed) coverage

Age 36 no tickets, riding for 12 years.

Is This A Good Rate?

All-
Im no insurance expert but from what I was told, this is a killer deal since it has LOTS of protection and a low deductible which is what one wants-correct? Any experts here feel free to tell me if this is in fact a good deal or could it be better please?

Luckily, I havent ever needed to use it (knock on Carbon Fiber!) and I have referred many other folks I know to him too. He even wrote my policy when i lived in 2 other States and it was easily done. Anyone interested in getting a quote from my guy is welcome, just PM me. BTW- its State Farm, and some other guys I know who had SF made a call to him and got a better deal worked out too - dont ask me how but they said it worked!

Coverage Details Premium

I sure hope I am getting a good deal here, so again - those who know please clue me in if ya would? Thanks!

my buddy had State farm and they are great as long as you NEVER file a claim..the moment you file a claim (at fault) they will pay the claim and then send you letter that your insurance has been revoked. They WILL give you ample time to get insurance from another company

FYI

^HMMMMM....maybe there was another reason? I have state farm and hit a deer in my car ($10 k bill ) and never got that....my rate didn't even go up

Deer is not an at fault accident. I have done that with GEICO and they considered it not at fault.

Seriously??

Wow! That is a bit extreme.
Just for giggles, I am going to ask my friend (the SF Agent) if that would be the case according to him, and their policy. Obviously NOT the deer thing.
If you want me to post his response I sure will?

That is a shady issue for sure if 100% true, agreed!

I have had multiple people report the same thing.

Simple google search shows the same thing, a LOT of people reporting being dropped by that particular company after filing their first ever "At fault" Insurance claim..

1299S
state farm
several deer , a turkey ($4500 damage) one ducati stolen $17k one hit by a ........ without insurance $17k.

and my wife is a deer magnet.

$541 per year . but I have an umbrella policy

without the umbrella it would probably be less than $400

I would suspect how long you've been a customer with them, what your records looks like other wise, credit score etc, would all factor into their decision to cancel you.

Statefarm policy was by far the best price. I'm 30, with a clean driving record...2015 1299 Base model full coverage with 1000 deductibles on comp and collision is $100.00 month or $597.92 for the 6 month policy. 10k/20k and 25k prop damage.

I have State Farm, had to file a total loss (stolen 09 R1) in April of 2013, got my 1199 in July. Rates didn't go up.
