No one will insure for business use on my Tric'. Kind of sucks because I canget it on any make of car but had lots of replies saying no can do business use on the Ducati! Have a quote from National Farmers Union for £1600 including business use and they were going to decline until I pointed out how many policies we have with them so they made a decision to go ahead. The UK bike insurance services are pretty ....! Do you have any NCB, No sorry ok what's your biking history. Ok thats cool. How much is the bike? £23,750. Sorry Sir too expensive for us to insure! WTF! It is only £23,750 not like a bloody ferrari or Lambo!!!!

Got to say 1199 Gnome, looking at this thread, seems the Yanks get a far better deal that the Brits. UK insurance companies seem to have a view of motorcycles buried somewhere in the 1950s. Motorcycles are for people who can't afford cars. What do you mean twenty three thousand pounds? that's as much as a car costs, what kind of motorcycle can that be. . .?

Indeed it is like stepping back in time! I never had this sort of issue when I insured my first CBR 600 back in April 87! A little later it fell over as the side stand gave way and then a pillion pulled the rear grab rail off. All "teething problems" according to Honda! Ha ha ha. Waiting on a phone call back from Ducati Insurance as they have to call the underwriters! What a crock! Ha ha ha

Crazy Insurance Situation in the UK

UK riders beware: Thinking of getting a Panigale and already have an 'Aviva Premier Multi-bike' policy? Then forget it. I accepted this policy when I renewed with Carole Nash as it seemed perfect for someone who was keeping their current ride and thinking of what all Ducati riders think of - another Ducati. Now comes the time to add the Panigale due for delivery this Saturday and Aviva are apparently refusing to insure any Panigale model at all because they have adopted a 'wait and see' policy. Nice if you have such policy with them huh? F--ck you Aviva!

This will force me to cancel my current policy (used for four months, but will only get 6 months refund - although to be fair CN are talking about eating some of that for me). The fear and loathing put into UK insurers by an expensive new model of bike is laughable. Can you see motor insurers doing the same thing for an equivalent value car?

I have been riding for 30 yrs, 13 yrs NCB, no recent convictions etc. etc. and can only ride one bike at a time - yet it looks like my bike insurance is about to go up by a factor of 3-4X. Anyone got any tips (apart from emigrating).

LATEST: So Carole Nash got back to me with a multi-bike quote for the Tric today from Equity Red Star - £2,200 ($US3,400) yes, that's actually a >7x increase in my current premium of £300. I told them to stick that one where the sun don't shine and try again. They're coming back to me. . .

State Farm official policy came in the mail the other day. $415 annual for 500 deductible, 100/300K liability limits. Full coverage/collision, etc. Not too shabby. 40M, house, car and some life insurance witht them. Always loved SF with sportbikes. This is on base w/abs model.

Panigale Insurance Breakthrough

UPDATE: Carole Nash did come back to me and told me that's the deal. They also told me the Panigale S Tric. was a special limited to production of 500 and that was the problem. 'No it's not' I said. 'It definitely is' they said. Whatever. So I went to REIS - REIS - Motorsport insurance specialists trackday competition insurance - Track Day Insurance, Motorsport Insurance, Competition Insurance : Richard Egger - the Motorsports Insurance Specialiast subsidiary of my car Insurer Chaucer. £750 fully comp. but will need a tracker. Seems fair. I asked them why the good deal. 'It helps if your insurance underwriter rides a Fireblade' said the guy on the other end of the phone. 'nuff said. :)

state farm here, 35 a month, full coverage 100/500 deductable, 150k/300k/100k coverage. 37, no accidents, no tickets. not bad for a no helmet, no fault state.

also Ducenzo, state farm is usually pretty good for their prices, my '09 1198 was just 31 a year, my '10 BMW S1000RR was actually more at 42 dollars a month, all by bikes have the same coverages. also, the Diavel is 31 a month.

Yeah, the guys with the Gecko.
I originally got a quote from Progressive since my cars and house and CBR1k were through them and they quoted me $180 per month for full coverage on the Tri. So I called Geico and got it for around $90 and then said piss on Progressive, switched the cars and house for more discounts to get the $80 per month. I'm 39 with a clean record now...

Well the insurance has been running since the end of June with NFU (National Farmers Union) and the paper work is now complete. Extras being fitted this week along with tracker and a smart water system. Have spoken to the guys at smart water and am trying to get some form of discount set up for the Forum. Will know more later this week. final bill for insurance came to £1565.32. Fully comp business, commuting and pleasure! No one else would touch the bike because of price without a
Stupid premium!!!

Ouch, that's almost $2,500. I'm paying $900 full coverage for a 1098S and
S4RS combined. Sad to say that you have superior, more expensive and more stringent training requirements. What gives?

Can't beat State Farm, only catch is, what another member said you need to have a vehicle along with the bike.

Just insured my 1199S this afternoon ready for pick up tomorrow. Insured it for $43740 + $3500 worth of extras with full 24/7 roadside assist and nearly fell off my chair when she said that will be an annual premium of $3300!

After some sweet talking and the fact that because of who I work for and the amount of business we write for them I got it down to $1800 a year/$150 per month which is reasonable but you guys in the states definately have it cheap!!

So i only have 1 bike on my StF policy you think if i add my second bike or a car Id get it cheaper than $50/mo?

Yup, I think so. I pay $74.00 a month Full Coverage with $500 Deductible. If I would of done $1,000 Deductible my monthly would be $54.
