I'm thinking of selling my 1199s, anyone interest to own one? The bike is in a great shape because I just bought it a couple weeks ago.
Just joined the forum about a nano second ago.
Planning on buying a 1199S.
There is only one small sticking point for me. Price!
Yep I reside in Thailand and these babies retail at TB1,698,00 or in US$56,300.
And it's very clear that you cannot have the best possible direct feel with 3 to 5 times the amount of brake hoses, junctions, and control valves.
I'm not a huge fan of the tri-Y wheels but It's no deal-breaker.
Otherwise I may opt for the base and with the money I save I'll replace the suspension and grab a set of Marchesini forged alloy wheels or maybe a set of BST's.
I may go over the price of the S to do this but that's ok.
So, I'm still on the fence and I need to learn more before I decide on which bike is right for me.
Ohlins that come from factory bikes (S models) are not the same quality as ones you buy aftermarket.
This is not correct for the 1199s. They come with good Ohlins stuff, NIX30 forks. There's always upgrades to be had, of course.
I just don't get why people say this. What does riding hard have to do with a smoother, more compliant, and more refined ride?
Better suspension works all the time - not just when riding hard.
hahaha! sort reminds me of this:
"Honey, can you do the laundry for me today while I'm out?" "awe sure babe"...
You pitch all of the cloths in together, wash on full hot and drop in a cup of bleach just for effect, and viola!
You're never asked to do the laundry again
