Interesting how this started out as mainly S's and now the standard bikes are catching up. I guess the early adopters mainly ordered the S model, but ultimately most will order the standard bike.

can you give me an answer if i want to know the projected arrival time of a S+ABS if i order it now ?
(i am from france)

thanks

merci Braintrash lol, toi aussi tu jongles sur les fofo du monde entier ;)
rdv sur planete ducat mdr

Base with no ABS.. my old ass is done with the track.. (Did that for a few complete seasons and it not only drained my wallet, it killed my marriage). I don't see the $5k jump to an "S" being remotely worth it for the street. That money will ne much more successfully spent elsewhere on the bike. The base with no ABS will also suffer the least monetary depreciation.. if that's even a plus.

I hear that the North American non ABS models are only missing the ABS brain when you buy one without ABS. Everything else is already on the non ABS bikes. If that is indeed true, you will see the ABS system scraped on future racebikes and the brain will be had second hand for way less than the grand you pay when new.

That's if I will ever want it..

I swear, any high performance sport car I drive, the first thing I do is turn that crap off. I may be in the minority but, I won't pay for it if I don't have to.

It's sad to read the initial posts in this thread and see everyone's predictions of when they will take delivery...

And, the wait continues for mine...

Well, just had my 1198 on a crash which I could have avoided if it had ABS when the rider infront slammed on the brakes!

Ofcourse now I'm gonna go for Pani but planning to stick with Pani Base with ABS. Pinged few dealers, just one had a Base with ABS, picking it up next week!, yeah!

Was debating between Base Vs S, looking at the following upgrades for S

List of 1199s upgrades over the standard 1199: (Courtesy of DRSapp)
1 - Ohlins NIX30 front forks - Electronic Compression and rebound adjustment
2 - Ohlins TTX36 rear shock - Electronic Compression and rebound adjustment
3 - DES - Ducati Electronic Suspension control
4 - Marchesini light forged alloy wheels - saves ~2.1Kg over the standard wheels
5 - Full LED headlights
6 - Carbon front mudguard
7 - Ohlins Steering Damper
8 - Little 's' sticker after the Panigale

Ohlins is the main upgrade but I should be ok with the base suspension for street.

Any take?

I was very happy with my '09 1198 base, so I think with all of the upgrades on the Pani (TC, EBC, QS, Dash, ergos, aesthetics) base will keep me satisfied as well.

Just ordered the 1199 standard. Hard to justify 5K for the electronic suspension and an ugly carbon fender on the street. Waiting patiently...

efna and antonyz1199 did your ducati store give you an idea of the arrival time?

Toniiio,

No exact date. They said maybe 4-6 weeks. If what I want comes in and the person who ordered it 'no shows' (which they expect about 20% of people will because many have ordered from more than one dealer and some will not be able to qualify financially or get insurance) I may be able to take delivery of a bike sooner. Right now demand exceeds supply so patience is mandatory.

At any rate, I am in no hurry. Here in Phoenix is it just starting to warm up (107 today) so our (my) riding season is at a low point this time of year. Best riding in AZ is from September to May when temps are in the 70's and 80's most days. Even if it came in tomorrow I wouldn't really ride it much until Fall.

In the meantime I still have my very well taken care of GSXR750 K7 (40K+ miles) , that I love and am not selling, to ride. I know that some/many on this board may scoff at this but that gixxer is one hell of a machine. With minor modifications and proper set up it is light, handles well, tracks true, and is easy to get into a 'one-ness' with. The Ducati has some shoes to fill. But I did not buy the 1199 to replace or one-up the gsxr. They are different animals. I have never owned a Ducati, for various reasons, however I choose this bike because of design. I have been looking for another bike and wanted something different from the same old screaming I4. Can't get much different than this eh?

So, I wait patiently. As they say, "Good things come..."

For all of those waiting for their 1199 to arrive...

I recently joined this board, having just 'ordered' a Panigale. I joined to learn about the bike from those few that actually have taken possession and get a feeling for it's quirks and potential issues. Some of the feedback has been interesting.

Many of you have been waiting quite some time and still have not taken possession of your new bike. For those who are becoming inpatient, I offer this bit of insite. Never, ever take an interest in high performance boating. Talk about waiting! Try 5-8 months from order to delivery.

For those who have had some issues with your bikes and are upset that a bike has peeling paint or a bad clutch slave, etc.... I offer this bit of advise. Never, ever take an interest in high performance boating. Each is hand made, to order. There is very little automation and you can count on problems. If you think that a $20,000+ bike with some 'quality' issues is unacceptable just imagine your frustration when your $100,000+ supercharged fiberglass wonder has an issue and leaves you floating in the middle of a lake. (You can't just pull over and park in the water.)

For those who are upset with DNA, Ducati, the order process, the delivery process, the tracking process. Here is some advice. Well... I think you know what I am going to say.

The point is, it is all relative and it's not that bad. A very wise man once told me the following:

"Life is a series of adventures. When you look back on it all you find that the adventure has two parts. The journey and the destination. The destination is the same for everyone. The journey is what YOU make of it. In the end, most of your stories and memories are about the journey and not necessarily the destination."
