I have a GT350 Shelby and that’s loud enough for me. Loud pipes tend to draw cops attention. I had a 911 with full on aftermarket headers, cats and exhaust...it was a cop magnet. The fuckers would tailgate me for miles. Don’t want that anymore. I’m a bit torn between getting the V4 or another 1299S, been reading the comparison threads. I had a bad back and shoulder and needed months of PT to get over a muscle strain....that I did while working on the 911....so I sold the 1299S....but my therapist got me all fixed up and I need another Ducati.

DCPani you’re right on, def like having exhaust on cars with a valve. It’s ez enough to disappear on my 1299 tho

many years back i was a cop in a major metro area. I could never understand Cops that would that. We never had the time to be worried about stupid .... like that. We ran pretty much call to call to call.

unless you just have to have something that is plain crackers fast, get a Multi. Tons of meaty tq, faster than the street will let you max out, and can keep you in the quicker side of the track day rides....and man. All day comfy. I loved mine.

Local dealer has a 916. So tempting. Have to close on a house first but debating trying to see if they will accept a hefty deposit to hold it for a bit.

thank you. I tried to make a difference when i was there. Even moved into the city to try and revitalize it. Eventually felt it wasnt for me anymore and quit. Went Into the military and then on to other things.

you?
I’m just a regular guy with lots of friends in the armed forces and LE. But if the bad ppl come for our statues I’ll be standing shoulder to shoulder with the good guys with my AR

KurtP, it's funny you brought up being a cop and Multistradas. I am a motorcycle cop in north Texas and have 2015 Multi in the garage!

The virus has shut down the DC MVA, so I’m riding on expired temp tags from Texas. I don’t mind as that’s saved me the cost of tags, taxes and registration. I kept the email from them saying that, in case I get pulled over for the expired tags.

some Virginia State Trooper is just salivating at the opportunity to impound your bike and write you a stack of tickets, knowing full well his tags are expired on his car at home for the same reason. Luckily, the only thing they do all day is gun radar on the toll express lanes of 66, 267, and 495 trying to nail people getting to work; so you can avoid them easily.

I live in DC so I don’t think a Va trooper can get me for expired tags. If I get stopped I’ll show them the email from the DC MVA that states you are permitted to drive on expired temp tags till the virus has passed and I can go get new tags in person. Now if you have permanent tags you can indeed renew them via the website and new stickers get mailed to you. I don’t ride much in Va due to their nasty speeding laws. 20 or more over the posted limit and you go to jail. No excuses. Too bad as Rt211 and others are great roads.

All I know is that every time I head to the OBX from NJ, I do the exact stated speed limit in Virginny! The VA LEOs are everywhere!

40k for a paint job an an exhaust not even an R whoa but I get it I'll wait for the R
And get carbon fairing

The 916 is an S with the whole catalog of goodies thrown at it. You can take a S and build everything mechanical a 916 is, and it will ride the same.

and 20 years from now, absolutely no one will ever look at and consider buying a S or a R. Nothing you do to either of those bikes will ever do for it what that head stamp on the triple crown of the 916 does for it.

Thats a bold statement, the only 916 in a serious collectors sights is the Tamburini original. The recent paint specials while nice, are just that. a paint job with a bit of bling. It's hard to say which V4 will be the most collectable and valuable apart from the Superleggera, but I think the '18R has to be close. The problem with these limited run models is that they are so common without adding anything unique or technologically superior, think Annniversario, FE etc. Every five minutes Ducati comes up with a way to market a bike with a new name and stickers. But all the SL's; they are something else, wow!
