But that doesn't explain it. I would assume you secured insurance before picking up the bike? And I would also assume people that are spending $30k on a bike are well aware it's a super sport that will be very fast! I don't get the "oh it's too fast for me " theory.

Things I reading are a concern. Like the issue with the stability of the single side swing arm and the frame less design. ( which is why the 899 has lost the single side swing arm). And things like mid range being very flat and torque less coated to ducati's of the past. And you must have the termi on to sort out the mid range. The heat and crap are not concerning me.

It seems like people are buying these bikes and are either not happy with it or can't live with it.

(Brad, you don't need to comment, I have heard all the crap I need to hear from you. Dick)

You're right man, the bike is simply awful. This was the first bike ever with a single sided swingarm - and it was quite a pathetic attempt at change. The bikes unstable like a wet noodle on the track, and it slower than most 600's. To have fun on this thing is nearly impossible if you're anyone other than Helen Keller.

Please, stick with your magical HP4. I hear it adjusts your impression/rebound WHILE you ride!!! (except it doesn't distinguish between compression and rebound, and does front and rear at the same time - unless of course you spend $850 on some sensor that sits out front on the bike).

We should go to the S1000RR forum and ask them how they put up with the ugly front end. Oh wait, thats idiotic.

Thats actually not due to stability but because it was considerably cheaper to manufacture. SSSA on the 1199 are lighter and more expensive to produce. If SSSA's cause instability then why put it on flagship models?

Sounds like you have already made your mind up mate (not sure if trolling?), and at the same time missing the point here. A lot of these blokes are really happy with their bikes. Love them.

Maybe it's not for you?

He's just trolling.

Because the bike is garbage, the engine is garbage, the stock gearing, guess what? you said it, GARBAGE!
I'm listing my S and my R on ebay this weekend :)
Can't wait tip they are gone! But hey, its okay that two $30,000 leak oil, and its okay that 100,200, 300 or whatever number it is of other peoples bikes leak oil. But its just "normal" to the idiot "Ducati Defenders."

Finally after all the crappy posts u would write on my for sale threads and not sell ur products u are leaving!

Not sure why people cry about this bike it has a warranty and yes plenty for sale it's been out for a while now and it's winter a lot of bikes go for sale now a lot of people look to buy something new coming out

Fix it. All of you have a warranty. Yes things depreciate. Lots of factors- season economy new models vs older new improvements

All in all its a great looking bike and its fun machine

Wow! You guys are sensitive. All I am after is some honest feedback from current owners. But most of what I seem to be getting are comments about the BMW. I am not asking Ducati owners what they think about the HP4. I am asking about the 1199.

I do like the 1199. I do want one. Just trying to get some real world experiences before dropping lots of money on another toy.

If some of you need to put down the BMW to make yourself feel better, then that's your issue not mine.

Where am I supposed to get owner feedback from?

And it's not that this is the first bike with a single side swing arm, but first one without a frame.

I do appreciate some of you that have provided some good feedback.

There have been no issues related to the single sided swing arm or frameless setup. 1199 is love or hate IMO, I honestly would have bought the S1000 if it wasn't for it looking like crap. The Pani has stiff suspension and minimal low end power/tq until 7k, otherwise it's absolutely amazing. I do zero track days, ride only on the street and I don't regret my purchase one bit. It's a different bike that looks like pure sex, plenty of power when you know where to find it and makes me smile every time I ride it

How much for the locktite ??...Oh wait. You didnt use any.

:) :)

Yes your quite entitled to get some feedback.
In the main the bike is exemplary in most respects, and great in all others.
There you go, that's my totally unbiased opinion.

There are probably a small handful of people who would be honestly critical of it.
A couple of them may even be here on this forum.

IMO, the main problem with the bike is that it's not for the un-initiated. (truly)
Also it is unforgiving in that it will show up your lack of riding skills and you need to be prepared for that mentally and emotionally. (we all have deficiencies)

In summary, if your ignorant of what you're dealing with, one of two things will happen. One will either be disillusioned with the ownership experience.
Or the light will go on in ones head, and will be hooked for life.;)

I don't know how old you are.
But the Britten (built in about the early fifties) was the first bike other than the DUCATI Moto GP bike without a frame.
The 1199 is the first production bike without a frame.

Cheers:)

(Brad, you don't need to comment, I have heard all the crap I need to hear from you. Dick)

That's terrible.
And here I was thinking you wanted to play nice with everybody.:(

Now I'm disappointed in you:eek:

Good luck with your quest:)

The Panigale reminds me of the Porsche GT3 which is a normally aspirated rocket with racing suspension (minimal suspension travel and minimum ground clearance, very heavy clutch pedal, razor sharp handling, expensive maintenance, and the serious ability to tell u that you don't know how to drive a racing machine). In short, these machines, Panigale included, are an experience, like most exotic vehicles. It's not going to drive like a daily driver, period. You have to be receptive of the uniqueness of this bike in order to appreciate the Panigale experience. If you are not looking for a new experience in riding other than the appearance that the bike gives off in aesthetics, then you are barking up the wrong tree, IMO. YMMV

The Vincent HRC Black Shadow .
Everyone I know who has bought a Panigale and is willing to ride it other than be a passenger is quicker on this bike it's chassis is not flawed .
Takes a while to get to know it but will be worth it .
Riding the S1000 feels like your ....... a fat chick compared to a supermodel in comparison .

Oh yeah, I forgot the HRD.
So from that perspective the 1199 is in quite good company. Historically speaking.

I concur with wilkson.
One also has to commit to setting it up properly IMO.

Side note, what are the Toronto guys paying for insurance? Ball park? My HP4 is $1400 per year. I would image the 1199 should be close.
