What a strange thread...and far outside the reality of my world (although I did give my friend a screwdriver recently...for free).

Plot twist!

I’m getting the bike back and getting him a new bike.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get stranger.

Work started on my bike today…

Not that I have any idea what's going on or why here, but I'm curious.
What do you want to do? Are you getting into the track or you decided no, & you're prepping the Pani for the street?
I have a not rich friend who gave me his SuperSport when I'd wrecked my Monster. He'd just got himself an 1198. When I got my 848, we decided to give the Super Sport to a 3rd good friend. It happens.

It's a long story but i'll try to keep it short...

I bought the bike and parts to ride at at the track.

I needed a favor (trying to get married to a foreign .... for the past year and a half without any luck because this country requires approval on nationals for this kind of thing, which is ...... up) so i gave him the bike as he promised to help through his contacts.

He doesn't ride on track so most of the parts would have gone to waste.

None of that matters now, I'm not getting married.

So since this bike is still in my name I'm promising to get my friend a new bike instead and keep my word.

it gets even more complicated....This reads as a bike bribe for documentation. It never happened so you didn't hand over the bike.....

PS, I wish the UK process was half as tight!

Read as you will but you have no clue!

My guy is getting his bike!

I am not sure you are aware how corrupt it appears to gift a 35k bike in return for a bureaucratic "favour"

He doesn’t work at this government office.

What’s corrupt is the law they’ve applied… requiring a .... to convert religions when the religion it’s self doesn’t require it and even when she does permission must be asked from a committee of 14 people. If that isn’t corrupt it’s just plain messed up.

Imagine having to ask permission to get married from someone that isn’t the ....’s father.

Like I said… this is a short version of the story. My guy is my brother in law and friend. He doesn’t work in government but has relations. Bottom line is yes I did ask a favor but it was not for any political or financial gain, or any other gain for that matter. All I did was ask for my right!

Did I mention that the committee refused even after their stupid requirements were met?!

And I’ve been going back and forth trying to get approval for over a year and a half.

All of this is before I gave him the bike.

Good luck with the bike and I hope life stays simple while in Qatar, as one bike rider to another you definitely dodged a bullet not going through with the marriage!
