 I know what I own...Do you??...and FYI....the Japanese make very good bikes..ZX10 for example...

LOL of course i know what i own, and you are right some of the bikes they make are great and at half the cost of the Ducati or so i'm always told

exponential

STW, I hear what you are saying man, but this bike will make you or anyone faster around a track vs. a heavily modified base. The electronics package on the SL alone will enable anyone to access more of this bike's potential vs. whatever electronics you put on a heavily modified base. The base will ultimately be harder in terms of accessing its potential vs the sophisticated SL. And, the modified base will be sitting at the side of the track broken if you try to keep the SL in sight for any length of time. The SL's parts and technology working together make it exponentially better in terms of performance and accessibility than any base modified to any level.

it s simple. If you want that weight to output ratio and all the gear to keep it in check ( brakes/suspension/electronics) then that is what it costs..

So i do not see much 'exclusivity' premium... it's what it costs.

you can easily spend 18K on carbon, painting and magnesium and still not come 6Kg close to the weight of the SL ... adding the extra 10bhp will set you back another 10K just in blueprinting and 6K in bits.. and then there is the suspension and electronics to go for....

the only disappointment i see on the bike is the plastic electronicsholders and strip around the radiator... the radiator in itself that could have done with some improvement..

so to want...

now to need?

Hex sure has a point... the culmination of small things that seem not so important of noticable on themselves do make for big differences.. and the SL does that to the R in a big way .. -10KG/+10BHP is a biiig step...

Why do I need 10hp??

-- its the "sport adventure" trend, or the cafe idea boosting them up a bit..

-- quadrupling from 500 units per year shouldn't be hard :)

Hmmm...Where have I heard the number 500 mentioned before???:p

apart from food, drink and shelter, none of needs anything... but let s not call it a life... :)
