Picked mine up today

Only rode 5 miles home but initial impressions on 1299S

Seating position better than 1199. Slightly lower but less weight on arms, leg room remains the same.
Larger fairing is noticeable, I've had the taller Ducati screen fitted and again it's noticeably higher than the 1199 option.
Engine - wow! Mid range 3-8k is massive compared to 1199. With Full Termi and Tuneboy it ought to be epic.
Mounting luggage on rear will be a PITA due redesigned tail.
Electronics (from fuelling to DQS up/down) just seems slicker and more integrated. Same impression from friend with 300 miles logged.

At times I've had serious doubts whether the cost of upgrading would be worth the additional performance. Early days but I'm pretty sure it will, if only for the motor.

I hope it freaking snows in Jersey until August.... :D
We had snow showers on Monday morning and a snow/sleet/wintry mix last night! Besides, you Westies have all the cool roads and have a riding season as long as a Jupiter summer!:p

Couldn't everyone with 1199(S)
just have saved their bikes , and installed the 41 tooth plus, Rapidbike, The new Auto Blipper from Ducati Omaha and the optional wings on the front fairings to get a similar performance at a fraction of the cost of a 1299?
:D

Picked up my R today and it's fantastic! Weather isn't too good here so haven't really had the chance for a ride out but got a few miles in.

Just awesome. It sounds fantastic too (baffles not out.....yet!), pops and bangs on throttle run off and down shifts. When I can use full revs this is going to wail.

Ride is quite hard but a) I've never had a problem with that and b) I have the suspension in flat however, the softer/taller seat takes a lot of it out, far comfier than previous seats.

It is super responsive and the bike feels light, really light, even over last years R. Turns in, no effort, makes me feel confident...... but I have had to turn the steering damper up a touch as it does still like a wiggle!!

Git :)
Mine arrived at the dealers yesterday so I wont get it till next week (one time I wish there wasnt a holiday!!).
So theres definately removable baffles then?

My bad, no removable baffles, not that I've found, I've not taken the carbon guards off the end cans, but I'm fairly certain there are no baffles now I've had a good look

Ive been to see mine today, no baffles.
I did witness the first start though and its LOUD! :)
Gorgeous in the metal, the pics dont do it justice.

I could have sworn that I saw removable baffles in the pics. Oh well, I can deal nicely with loud.

Excellent ! - your short review (i know you could write more, but you're probably riding) is a nice read - i've been told to expect deliveries to start near mid April for the New York area.....weather is the excuse now for not being overly anxious - a lot of rain would be ideal to give road surfaces a good wash ;)

While everyone has their own preference, how many clicks are you on the damper - and what is your weight...i tighten the front 1 full turn & leave the rear alone (205lbs)- F & race mode only :D

15,000 mile service done and bike (2013-R) technically sold, waiting on new R delivery before it leaves the garage....i can't deal with the separation anxiety

Okay, so out again today......

The R is truly epic, that is all :D :D :D

Bearing in mind I can't really tell you what the engine is like due to running in. I don't baby it when running in but I do respect it, I am certain the acceleration is savage, hold on tight, feel it in your arms savage!

To be fair, 5'7" 160lbs, I haven't adjusted anything suspension wise, stock settings seem alright for me just now with the linkage in flat, that may change and I will track it at some point. I have the damper on 15 clicks, it is bordering on stiff when pushing the bike around lock to lock etc, but once moving, light as a feather. I didn't get on too well with the electronic suspension on previous Panigales, this is what I've been wanting. Mechanical suspension, set it once, ride the thing, it just feels right, positive and planted!!

It's just sublime, it is truly something else. No one who has ordered this bike will be disappointed. I had reservations as to whether I had made the right choice over the 1299, they are right out the window. For me personally (not everyone) it's perfect, the bike I have wanted since the first Panigale

Happy days...........
