I'll say this.. I was at a bike night before the races with about 75 other bikes all shapes and sizes.

Guess whose bike was constantly swarmed with people? Drool and compliments coming from every angle.

Nothing competes with the wow factor of a Ducati... and surely not a GD gixxer. People were going crazy listening to the snarls out of that Termi pipe. It was semi-celebrity status, and I did everything I could to be humble and answer the million questions thrown at me.

I got beat in a straight-line race. I understand it's not a drag bike, but it's untouchable in every other way.

Have you done the RapidBike, Sprint air filter and geared her down one tooth in the front? The reason I ask, is that the 1299, unlike the 1199R is geared to the moon.. 199 mph at redline in 6th.. That alone will kill you. Gear her down one tooth in the front, which will max you out at 186 mph in 6th, RapidBike and Sprint Super Bike air filter with P08 filter material and it's a whole different ballgame. Trust me on this. :D:D:D:D

You'll get more ..... from owning a Panigale than you will by riding a Neon Green ZX-10 or similar. End of story.

I see the problem . The exhaust at full noise starts to push the bike back wards with a normal exhaust it will push the bike in a forward direction .

Yeah.. he had full tune, exhaust, and flash

I don't know why you're surprised, he's probably near 200 rwhp

There is always somebody faster, but making cheap and reliable big power numbers is always going to be easier with the Japanese inline 4s

Ultimately you ride a Ducati because you're looking for a different experience. I rode Jap 4s for about 25 years

What a thread!

Dude, don't think twice about the GSXR beating you brother. Those inlines are definetly FAST and look at the new R1 so unreal right outta the box too! The Japanese Companies have ALL stepped up their game in an all out Hp war w each other, something Ducati has not really concerned themselves with as much as they do man. It's not embarrassing unless you let it be brother. So let it go. You still have a bike that stops people walking by it and creates both men and women to get turned on! Lol. Safe to say it's the best LOOKING bike of the class. - but yes looks are not EVRYTHING I KNOW. :(

To: /rrgerman - I personally would never slam any member here for coming right out with comments similar (or worse ) than what you said my man. Unfortunately, I do agree with you on a number of issues you've said too. Fortunately though, I've never ran into any real issues with the 6 different bikes I've had the pleasure of owning and racing too. When I was a Service Director at a Ducati Dealer I had many arguments w their Regional Service Reps about warranty work taking way too long, and waiting on parts from friggin Italy too! In no way should someone who pays for such a bike like these be forced to wait unrealistic times for parts from another country, or unexplained issues w things. They really should have created some sort of "Loaner Bike Program" to allow owners to use the same bike- or even a better one- while waiting on theirs to be properly fixed. IMHO this would show some SERIOUS Customer Service while even giving owners to try different bikes they may even decide to trade up to or buy instead ya know? (Just me blowing smoke here w ideas that are too unrealistic to happen)

You are definetly due your negative opinion after having a bad experience w yours man. It's just a culture in itself I guess you could say owning these bikes. One I haven't been able to shake for like 20 years. I always wanted something "Different" to be proud of owning and for the most part lived that life for many years! I now have a 2012 1199s Triccolore with more mods on it than one could think of! No more room for more - but it hasn't been ridden in 2 friggin years and sits under a Ducati cover attached to an Optimate 4 so the battery will never die. Love to sell it to someone wanting a totally tricked out Tri that looks much different than any other, but won't take it in the arse just to let it go. Call me selfish, stupid or unrealistic on what I'd want for it, but that's just the way I am. :(

Don't ask me how I even got on this topic here and went so far off course guys. Those of you who know me understand why. Totally lost my train of thought so on that note I'll say good night and wish you all well. ;)

Gunny Out ..........,,,,

+1 on that, I will never go back to those piece of crap Battery Tenders

Man this is surprising, although I can't speak for the gsxr. Coming off the last turn in Fontana raceway I was tight with an R1M on my 1199R and there was no way when that shotgun let loose that he was going to catch me. By the start finish I was multiple bike lengths in front up to 171mph. And I weigh 225lbs without gear. You don't redline these bikes because you don't have to. Slamming that indicator causes the bike to fall on its face unless your dead perfect. I shift my R just before redline and if there's a faster bike down the straight than I surely don't want it! ur clearly not "racing" to win my man... so juz njoy ur fun ride..

I just got my ... absolutely handed to me by a Gixxer doing a few street races.

1. "Street race" was on an empty toll road.
2. He pulled away EVERY GD time.. right from the start. We started at about 70mph. I was in 2nd.. redline, shift, redline, shift..

Anyone else do some head to head? How does your Duc fair? I was forced to ride my snobby man's bike down losers row tonight, and I'm pissed! lol

Any for head to heads? The only engine upgrade I have are the Termi carbon slips.

I'm hitting the track this weekend... hopefully to not go cry home to mummy again. ....... gixxers!

Jap 4 cylinders rev faster and have a lot of HP when in the zone.. More over rev not such a drop off with the rev limiter like the Ducati.. If the guy gets o it quickly he doesnt have to deal with the torque of the Ducati and he can get spun up quicker.. The Ducati is not a good drag racer

I did, however, dominate a tricked out 848 on the backroads of TX this morning... With a ~400cc advantage, I can still celebrate that right? haha

Nearly even through the twisties though! That 848 is a sweet ride!

That was part of my point about the gearing of the 1199R, vs the 1299.. The 1199 is sensibly geared, whereas the 1299 is just ludicrous, unless you are at the Bonneville salt flats... :D

The number seems high but if you assume they used the same dyno for all five bikes, the duc had the most BHP.

Thank goodness for diversity though. If everybody agreed on one engine layout it would be pretty boring out there.
I think that forced induction is going to enter SBK in the next 5 years. How does 750cc turbo, vs 1000cc nat asp, vs 1200 twin sound to you?

My responses are limited, you have to ask the right questions.
