What’s the advantage of removing? Interferes with larger sprocket?
With the V4 I removed the center section of the cover to leave all of the protection from breakage and grease/oil fling in place but still allow for inspection or swapping sprockets.
IMO, the idea that there's protection from chain breakage makes an assumption on where the chain will break. Its probably more realistic that the chain will get ejected to the rear of the bike.

The only think I didn’t like about doing it that way is that the crankcase gets splattered with chain lube.
What’s the diameter of the pipe in that spark system? Was it designed specifically for the lower displacement V2s?

i Typically go with what the vehicle specific manual states. If proper cover torque is going to damage the cover how the heck will that cover protect your bike in the event of……?
