Air filter

It always makes me laugh about the foam don't protect comments....why the .... does almost every dirt bike have a foam filter, I've had my kato's in dry dusty conditions for days and got home and pulled filters to find them spotless inside.

Sprint filters are not "foam type", they have a proprietary polyester fabric liner, which gives them excellent filtration characteristics in addition to flow.

why does almost every dirt bike have a foam filter

Quite obvious why - dirt bikes obviously inhale so much dirt they would quickly overwhelm a paper type filter. Based on your (non) logic if you can't see it it's not there, really?

Are you presenting a test that doesn't include a Sprint filter? Yep. Is it logical to post as a retort? No. Is a Sprint p08 filter on the 1199SL/Panigale R from the factory? Yes.

If you feel the need to charge into a forum within two weeks of joining with the amount of bravado (it kinda seems like you've been pissing on people) your last few posts have had, please first explore the search button first.... You'd find the recently posted test that shows the Sprint Filter flowing best vs. others..... and not on a Miata.

I got a feeling ultra300 is related to or the same guy as the fzr100098 guy that was here and got banned lol

Didn't last very long. Quite the fella... Knew everything and anything about oil and break in procedures. Wish I had his # so he could tell me again why I should dump my oils 7 times before I hit the 600 mile service.

Is anyone here going to own their bike long enough...and use them regularly enough...that dirt which can pass through ANY air filter have caused that much of a detrimental effect to their engine to cause some type of appreciable loss?

Its been my experience that just about every sport bike guy is going to want more power, better handling, less weight etc. Longevity from the filtration of micro particles of dirt isn't even in the top 5.

The filtration of my old bikes just stopped rocks .

I installed a P08 and my bike started wheelie'ing in 3rd (power wheelies- base 1199, not jerking throttle just going through power band)) .. same stretch of road, no other changes made

it proves one of two things (or both)..

- My stock filter was clogged like ..... and bike can finally breath..

- P08 is a vast improvement over stock set up

- My stock filter was dirty as ..... AND the P08 is a big improvement..

I just received my K&N standard. I didn't want the race filter. K&Ns have always worked fine on all my other machines. I don't want to spend $300 for an air filter. When I get the 15R, I keep that one stock with the P08. I'll let you know if the K&N doesn't work well.

The highest flowing filter P08 is just $90

Holy crap!!!!
They basically charged you £57 to fit the sprint filter.(filter costs £73 delivered)

No mate, this (fitting the R filter to my S) was an experiment. I (and they) didn't know for sure it would work. So I ordered the Ducati OEM R part on the basis that if it didn't work out, they would keep it in stock. Filter price £86.17. Labour £17.70. VAT £20.77 Total £124.64. Plus they were doing some other work FOC (removing rear cylinder heat shields and fitting cf hugger)
