Anyone 'carry' when riding?

Just curious, when was the last time you needed it on a ride?! I've ridden parts of the US and never felt the need to 'carry'.

Probably best to put this one down to cultural differences i think! My last post on the topic.

I dont think its "need" to carry but just in case.

Having said that I have concealed Lic but dont carry when I ride, but I do think about it sometimes. Just never know what can happened.

I carry a S/W bodyguard 380 because I own a business and Restaurants are becoming targets in my area. I carry when I ride only when I am going to be on empty country roads out in the middle of nowhere.
HOWEVER, I disdain the NRA, I don't feel sad we live in a Country that cares more about guns then education, and I don't feel the need to have a bigger gun then the next guy.

can you understand that for many (most?) non-us members, this is just utterly incomprehensible..

carrying on a bike for 'just in case' .. you don't carry a firetruck for 'just in case', so why a gun... you're out there riding the canyons .. and some hillibilly will take a shot at you?

it feels like my brain is to small to grasp this reality...

grtz

Its not your brain being small :D but as you mentioned, non-US may not just understand the culture and history of USA.

Not every place, you will "just in case" need a gun, but some unknown area, it might be a good idea.

I think if Non-Amercians understand those two, you will understand why so many Americans are pro-Guns. Of course we have those who are not also.

Just like Americans can never understand why Germans do this or why Aussy do this, or why Chinese do that...it is same with having Guns in America.

Not trying to get into a agruments or starting a Gun vs not topic. :D

+1

I usually carry a SCAR-H with the CQC barrel on a magpul MS3 sling with 3-4 pmags duct taped to my tank. I find I don't get hassled by cagers using this configuration, but it does lead to increased attention from LEOs.

I have 2 RPGs mounted under by seat, with Termi stickers to camouflage them. If I run into trouble, I spin the bike around, and let 'em rip! Most times there's a bit of collatoral damage - but that's their problem. For CF: These are the IV models, upgrading to the LEs.

Be careful with the RPG's! too powerful. I cracked a tail lens when I tried it:D

And they got in the way of my beer holder

Years ago (age 21) I was riding through OK on my Kaw 650 Custom, w/ full coverage Bell helmet. 2 guys on a big Honda, no helmets, drinking beers, come along side me and hold out a beer for me. I take it, then suddenly realize I cannot drink it because of my chin guard. So I pull over to the shoulder beer and hand, stop, remove helmet and chug it :)

Those were the good old days, eh? :)

I'll carry in backpack, but not on me during a ride for fear of injury and/or unsecured weapon in a crash.

To our overseas friends, I'd just like to point out that between one and two MILLION crimes are stopped every year in this country from private gun ownership. That's the "just in case" as it happens every day. You might note that countries like Finland, Sweeden and Switzerland also have very high gun ownership rates, so not like this is uniquely American. And yes, this country is strangely violent (though there are other more violent countries). So I get that there is confusion from people who live in places whithout the threat of violent crime and gang bangers that we have here. But concealed carry is the single most provable crime deterent we have and America is not the only place this is the case. Anyway, sorry for the soap box.

Maybe 'right' for other countries. But definitely 'wrong' for the United States. I wouldn't try to take your right to your opinion any more than you can take my right to own & bear arms. Our constitution guarantees both.

I think all you non USA residents hav it right on guns. USA can't get it done....YET!

I own guns and will defend the 2nd but there are other "gun" countries that have solutions to deminishing if not deleting gun violence. I dont want to take anyones gun away. I do think there should be background checks and better mental health care. I dont think anyone needs an assault rifle that is high capacity or bazookas or tanks for that manner. I respect your rights sir

I am glad to hear you exercise your 2nd amendment right and am not sure what more you feel they should do for background checks. Every gun I own mandated a background check. Also (I know for Florida, at least), persons applying for a concealed carry permit go through extensive background checks and are required to complete training.
